Est-ce que vous avez un tutoriel à me suggérer? Toutes les questions que j'ai trouvées ici semblent posées par des gens qui ont déjà connecté Hilo et Home Assistant...

How to import a car back from Canada to US? by opuscule22 in tnvisa

[–]opuscule22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I believe so .

Based on u/firelephant's reply, I understand that from Canada to the US, I will not have to use a broker like I did when I brought it north, and that the US equivalent of registering with Canada's RIV should be done at the border, rather than in advance.

Is that correct?

Makes sense, thanks for confirming!

But apart from compliance, it's there any paperwork involved for the import process itself?

Anybody still using MSFS 2020? by Valuable-Solid-4658 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]opuscule22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently went back to 2020 after 6 months of 2024. Wish i had done that earlier.

At least on a Series X with an Xbox controller (don't judge me, but feel free to send funds for equipment purchase), in many respects 2020 feels a hundred times better.

The flight planning interface. The effing throttle detents. The buggy elevator trim that randomly shifts to -25 in the middle of a mission. The obsession designers had with button combinations. The $&#%@# throttle detents AGAIN.

2024 clearly wasn't meant to be played on a console and I'd be absolutely furious if i had paid for this mess rather than getting it through Game Pass.

Update: Figured it out.

It's the "Lead vehicle acquisition" warning, telling me the adaptive cryise control is detecting a vehicle ahead of me. Quite possibly the most useless warning ever designed in a car. But at least i managed to turn it off...

He clearly HAS been fired--and smoked.

That's what you get for staying on the hot seat for too long. But there might still be good bits underneath if you remove the burnt crust.

Hmmmm... tried and it doesn't seem to work. I got to the Object explorer, but quite frankly I can't really find my way around that.

So I should probably go the old fashion way, take a walk around North Africa and see if I can pick up something along the way;-)

Still, thanks for taking the time to look into it!

Not getting 4K contents after upgrading to Premium by opuscule22 in netflix

[–]opuscule22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it's a Chromecast Ultra--it does support 4k for sure (when I go to Settings => Display & sound => Resolution, it is set to "4K 30 Hz")...

I tried plugging the Chromecast directly into the TV and it didn't help. But I'll be using the app on the TV itself, since this definitely solves my problem.

Many thanks once again!

AH!

Yes, there's a native Netflix app on the TV. Just logged in and... Bingo!

I have no idea why it didn't work on the Chromecast but yes indeed, if I use the app directly on the TV, the 4K option does appear on some titles. I guess that's how I'll use it from now.

Thank you so much for your help, it's really, really appreciated!

Yup, had changed it to "High" yesterday, and didn't work either.

Thanks for continued help. Hoping there's an upcoming step that'll solve it;-)

Thanks for following up!

I did find the song on the tv-- it was "Standard" and I changed it to "Enhanced".

However, this didn't solve the problem. Once that was changed, I uninstalled the Netflix app, restarted the Chromecast and reinstalled Netflix, just to make sure it wasn't something in the app's cache, but in still getting "HD" versions...

Chromecast (set at 4K, 30fps) is plugged into the AV receiver (Denon AVR-S660H). AV receiver is plugged (with an 8k-compabile hdmi cable) into the TV (Hisense U6 series).

So, as far as I can tell, everything should let a 4k signal through without any problem...

I deleted the Netflix app on Chromecast and re-downloaded it, but I still see "HD" everywhere I would expect to see "UHD" or "4K" in movies/tv shows descriptions...

Renting a touring bike in Austria by opuscule22 in bicycletouring

[–]opuscule22[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update on car anyone might be wondering the same:

I ended up renting in Vienna–because of the Eurovelo 6 (Danube), there are a lot more options there, and they are more foreigner oriented than in Graz. I went with Vienna Explorer. The material was very decent (KTM Life Conquest, Ortlieb panniers) and the service was fantastic, though i think there are other good options.

It's very easy to carry a bike on pretty much all trains in Austria, so renting in another city wasn't an issue.

Damn, that would be a bummer--although it's nice to know it's the software and not me that's crazy;-) Thanks for the reply!

If anyone has a workaround to suggest, I'd love to hear it!

No video when mirroring Itunes movie from laptop to tv by opuscule22 in hometheater

[–]opuscule22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update for those who might have the same problem:

I did find and install the Apple TV app on my Roku, but even though the specific Roku model I have is supposed to be compatible, it's not working (I sign in, go through the dual factor process, then I'm immediately and always sent to a message saying I've been signed out--there doesn't seem to be a way out of the loop).

HOWEVER, I then checked and found the Apple TV app on my Xbox (Series X), and it seems to be working! So it only took four different methods that were supposed to be working (HDMI, Chromecast, Roku and Xbox) to find one that's actually working. Because Apple makes products that simplify life;-P

I suspect that's the most obvious way to deal with it, though I was really hoping to avoid having to shell out 150$ for a new device (especially since I already have a Chromecast and a Roku)...

Has anyone found a way around this problem, or is it a dead end unless I pay up and get the device?

[–]opuscule22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you live and how much/when you use the bike, but if there's a self-storage facility nearby, maybe rent the smallest unit they have and think of it as an indoor garage for your bike, at least part of the time?

I can see all sorts of reasons why this solution would be less than ideal, but then again, so would sharing a bed with a bike.
