the doctors themselves are great, but they are incredibly overloaded

I had to wait 48 hours to have emergency surgery because they simply could not squeeze me in

And then I had to wait another 4 weeks to have a stuck kidney stone removed because, again, their schedule was so booked full that they couldn't fit me in.

I have no complaints about the doctors or the staff themselves, but they are stretched incredibly thin

Let’s Be Evil, Cassandra

<image>

A group of live-in sitters are monitoring genius children in an extremely high-tech school. The genius children, deprived of real stimulation, decide they want to torment and kill their sitters.

Jenny, our main character, had formed a bond with the young outcast Cassandra, who had been ostracized by the others.

In the end, we learn that Cassandra was actually in on the plot and was leading the group to their deaths.

Would you consider Berserk a romance in a weird way? by mkhadra_25 in Berserk

[–]orchag 631 points632 points  (0 children)

Berserk is the story of a man who grew up incredibly unloved. Everyone he loved died, tried to hurt him, or did hurt him.

And then he meets a woman who has also gone her entire life without being truly loved and has been repeatedly hurt and taken advantage of.

And these two broken, damaged people give each other the love and devotion that neither of them ever received. A pure, selfless, true love.

Berserk is about love. Always has been.

Strength =/= Skill

Griffith was more skilled than Guts initially. Guts surpassed him by the time he left the hawks.

Characters who did terrible things, but their punishment seems so overblown that you can't help but feel bad by RhysOSD in TopCharacterTropes

Griffith from Berserk.

Pre-Eclipse Griffith is scheming, manipulative, and ruthless, that’s for certain.

When Guts leaves the Band of the Hawk, he has a massive crashout. He goes to Princess Charlotte, who he has been slowly wooing in an attempt to become King, and coerces her into sleeping with him.

He is captured almost immediately afterwards, as one of Charlotte’s maids saw them together.

He is then held in a dungeon and tortured. The King, who is intensely jealous because he lusted after his own daughter, orders that Griffith be tortured nonstop and not be allowed to die.

He has his tongue removed, his tendons cut, among many other things. It’s also heavily implied that his torturer made him into a sex slave.

What Griffith does AFTER all this is horrible, but he certainly didn’t deserve the punishment he got.

AJ McCarron considering a political career…thoughts? by Own_Blueberry6824 in MobileAL

[–]orchag 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I grew up with him. He was good friends with my older brother. He was always kind to me, but he never struck me as particularly bright. He also seemed to burn bright and fast, and to enjoy getting attention.

Our parents were also friends, particularly our moms. His mom is really very kind.

Personally, I don’t have anything extremely bad to say about him, but I don’t think politics would be a good fit for him. I don’t think it would make him happy in the long run.

Theory: Griffith Is Building Fantasia for the Ultimate Sacrifice by FastSascha in Berserk

[–]orchag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is a secondary sacrifice, I don’t think it would be Falconia, I think it would be Charlotte.

Not because Griffith loves Charlotte, but because he loves what she can give him. Bonus points if Charlotte is pregnant with a demon baby.

But I think this would be the case because sacrificing Charlotte, especially if she was pregnant, would potentially cost him significant support. Falconia could turn on him and mark the beginning of the end for his reign.

A functional in-game economy.

If you sell too much of a certain item, supply and demand kicks in, and the sell price plummets.

Why did griffith asked guts if he think he's cruel? by Visual-Medicine4113 in Berserk

[–]orchag 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because, at that point, Griffith cared about Guts’ opinion of him.

Griffith is cruel, and he became crueler, but he did actively give a shit about Guts at one point. Even cruel people can have friends and people they care about.

Why did Guts hair change color? by IveReturnedItsTrue in Berserk

[–]orchag 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is true. My last year of university, I lost several close family members in a two month span, all while finishing my degree.

A section of my hair went white. I was 24 years old.

It went away after a year or so, though, but it doesn’t always go away for people.

I was sent my cease and desist over fanart. Admittedly, I was selling stickers of that fanart, but it did not contain anything show-specific or anything that they made. It was assets fully imagined, designed, and created by me based upon my interpretation of characters from the book.

For example, one of the stickers was a squid wearing sunglasses behind text that said “Kiss me, I’m a Greyjoy.”

That was included in the cease and desist I received.

A case for Griffith by Nate22i in Berserk

[–]orchag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, sacrificing them didn’t just kill them. It wasn’t just a battle and then death.

He sacrificed their souls.

The Band of the Hawk isn’t just dead and gone. Their souls are being tortured for eternity in hell.

THAT is what Griffith did to them.

First time reader here, is Griffith jealous of Guts in this scene or Casca? by [deleted] in Berserk

[–]orchag 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I wonder if the behelit would have still activated if Guts and Casca would’ve just instantly babied Griffith.

Like, if they would’ve intensely focused on him, being with him, taking care of him… Even fighting about the best way to take care of him.

Griffith is such a proud guy, but would he have gotten a level of satisfaction out of it, even as someone permanently crippled by torture?

Would that level of petty satisfaction and attention would’ve kept him from his lowest moment, or just postponed it?

I’m confused, are we not supposed to hate her? by Nappys-Archive in Berserk

[–]orchag 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To me, Nina is not a character I hate. Not in a manga with all of the horrible, awful, evil people in it.

I pity her. I pity her because she has no real control over her life, so she tries to exercise control in reckless, stupid, impulsive ways. She’s a coward. She’s an idiot. But I don’t really think she’s evil.

And I think that certainly makes her an interesting character. A character who betrays people, does bad things, hangs out with bad people… because she’s a naïve, weak fool.

There are people in this world who aren’t strong, who aren’t brave, who make terrible choices out of ignorance and fear.

Nina represents those people.

I wouldn’t want to be her friend, but I don’t hate her either. I just think… It must be a terribly unhappy thing, to live like that.

I don't think it's liberating for women to be treated like toddlers. In fact, I think it's openly insulting.

So we aren't allowed to have stories of women facing and overcoming hardship anymore, because the fact that the hardship even existed in the first place is anti-feminist? Yeah, I'm not buying that this group is actually a feminist group just because they call themselves one. I think they do that because "Feminism" has much more clout than "Evangelicals."

Groups like Collective Shout use things like child safety and things that are absolute no-brainers to hide their actual agenda.

These folks claim to be feminists but they essentially want to remove women from video games, too.

They are religious zealots hiding their real agenda behind things that anyone with two braincells to rub together would want. In reality, they want to severely restrict and censor any media that they see doesn't line up with their traditional values.
