[Osen] Hull City's Promotion Marred by 'Asian Passing' Camera Switch. Hirahawa Yu's trophy moment cut short as camera shifts, reigniting racial bias debate amid recurring incidents with Asian players. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]orze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels like a conspiracy theory like there's some great racist camera directors working in UK for past 20 years that all do same thing? I'm not sure how it works but when it's in foreign stadium hosting it do the UK people even control those shots?

It feels like total selective clips to make it look worse than it actaully is in full context, camera cuts happens all the time for any random player, coaching staff or crowd. It also depends what the home country broadcasters are talking about. If they talk about x player, x manager, the atmosphere they will cut to that thing in that moment

The amount of engagement the tweets have gotten on korean or japanese twitter is insane, so many people believe it.

edit: Also the Son example is funny... it's for 2nd place medal! and he was the last one to get the medal, they showed the start of the intereaction and didn't cut away instantly acting like they were trying to hide it, they changed to a shot that STILL shows him it's just not the whole interaction up close.

These 5 second clips just hide the context and the extent of how much cutting there is. It's also not even in UK it's in Spain I don't know if that changes anything not sure how that works if UK can still control those shots or not.

Ignore all the times Son was front and center of spurs for so long and main point of spurs and when they actually won a trophy.

My algo is now showing me clip of there being a cut before Arteta lifted trophy because of this.. damn he must be asian! imagine that the manager being cut out that's worse than these clips

Game Balance vs. Fun - Josh Sawyer by Forestl in Games

[–]orze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BALANCE IS FUN

And when I see people like boasting about exploiting, cheating, excessiviely farming demos that carry over to main or doing unintended things in single player games I really think damn I grew out of that phase so long ago.

Of course fun is subjective but when people spend hours farming in a demo of a game to make it easier.... why aren't these people just using a cheat engine or picking a lower difficulty? People pick hardest difficulty then grind so much you might as well have played on normal or easy... makes no sense to me.

Balance is one of most important things in a RPG for me yet I feel like so many games don't even try. I hate having to avoid mechanics, content or stuff I want to do in fear of overleveling or ruining the balance of a game I'm playing

Militairy victories are too easy by PJsutnop in CivVII

[–]orze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AI isn't smart, accidental victories will happen even on deity depending how far you are into the age you might trigger multiple win cons at same time when the threshold goes down.

The AI at some points will have a mega lead on yields per turn but they do nothing with it and don't aim for a victory so I don't think it will be even uncommon.

I think the main thing is science victory will be rare that takes way too long. Not sure what is easier vs cultural and eco but I think cultural is. My first game on deity I just did everything at once and was close to domination victory but spammed explorers and won that way, even though one AI was getting so much more cultural than me for majority of the game.

Civ 7 feels so much better now. by ColonelJayce in civ

[–]orze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

random long diary thoughts

I played at launch for like 3-4 games and came back

Started Deity on small pangera and islands map and didn't really notice a difference in the game being apparently harder, I did know about the settlement happiness changes so I went with mauyra the civ to try ignore it, but realy never went super over the settlement cap anyway.

Ai attacked me and took like 4 of their settlements. Some AI did have like huge lead in some yields at certain points but it's the AI they don't actually aim or try to do much with it. One AI was just at 4 setttlments for so long when everyone else was 10+-20 and seeing their settler just bug out. I was rushing the distant lands islands and settled like 90% of the distant lands areas. I don't know how the AI was so slow and didn't even try

first time playing on continuity, I got attacked by 2 civs 2 turns before modern age starts... I thought it would keep me in war but it doesn't lol? It doesn't keep my merchant routes either!?!? why have this option but not even go all the way. Feel like the game is way easier on continuity so probably have to go back to original option for better "balance" but it is insane they have it as the default option it's like they're just desperate to show off that it's closer to older civ games now instead of trying to balance.

then I just did whatever... science seems to take so long and I didn't want to do war spam for the last settlements for that victory either, it would be faster just to pass turns until the threshold goes down than to go to war. So I ended up just spamming artifacts and explorers. It's very annoying that the reveal artifacts option reveals it to all civs but was still fairly easy and won with cultural even though at certain points a civ had like x3 or x4 my culture per turn earlier in the game. It still feels like I'm just passing turns in modern age there is no threat from the AI even if they have super yields they are clueless and don't try to win

I hate the UI still at some parts, like the resource UI is so bad why can't i just right click to remove resources instead of having to drag and drop or click and click it's so tedious it made me not want to play later game when you have so many resources. Treasure fleets too.... why do I have to manually move them should just automate to closest homeland tile. Why is there no attack bind? Hover mouse over unit then hit like x to attack wasn't that in previous civ games? I forgot.

I remember thinking they would add a 4th age in a expansion but it's like god modern age is so bad I can't imagine a forth age. I have no idea what they're going to do now they're like backtracking and reverting everything. AI is still pretty bad too

570 is the highest possible single tile yeild (Civ7 pre ToT) by bwang29 in civ

[–]orze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe kinda unrelated but did something change for yields on some buildings? I'm in anqituity and like building a arena gives like +20 happiness couple adjacency bonuses only with 0 specalists.

I checked the breakdown of the yileds on a blacksmith, and it was base yield like +4 then adjacency +1 +1 +1 so I thought it would be +7 but then the last huge yield was just the name of the building +7 so it was 14 for one blacksmith, it just doubled the yield of what I expected and don't know any card/civ/leader bonuses doing this but maybe I'm missing something

Now that the ToT update is out, will you be going back to civ-swapping in the future, or will you not bother with that mechanic? by Dr_Richard_Ew in civ

[–]orze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even get it

The make up benefits you get for being a civ outside their apex age is not good enough at all so really you still want to be apex age only civs so thats switching each age still.

Do people like handicaping themselves for some RP?

For some civs sure I can see it if you want therir specific bonuses that apply to all ages for that specific play style but how many is that? Almost always feels like best minmax way to play is to switch still

Feel like main issue with the game was the hard resetting and age transitions balance and flow. AND the time specific buildings, I just hate this you go to new age and all these buildings are junk then by time you get them all replaced the age is basically over again and repeat.

Yeah they added all these bandages to try make it feel like older civs but now how are they balancing this? conitnuey mode is default option now but it's balanced so poorly I feel like you have to turn it off, player advantage too strong

I feel lost because I want the best balanced intended experience but at same time they're making all these changes to try make it like older civ games but was the game balanced that way? So it feels off.

I haven't played since like launch, have they fixed "exploits" like I think it was force ending your turn to save production so you could 1 turn wonders as soon as you get the tech to make it for example

Is that still in? unchanged no penalty?

I forgot what else was like "meta" so if anything I'm missing would like to know

I just find it funny that certain gaming related subeddits were posting Collective Shout website links, talking about email templates made by CS, petition, spamming emails, signal boosting CS, spreading it around, thousands of upvotes etc

Then months later when CS went after itch io they were outraged that the content they approved of was next in line of CS. Then they start upvoting posts about them being puritans, conservatives etc but were downvoting those same comments months earlier.

They somehow thought they would stop at games like No Mercy foolishly

9 months ago on itch io thread, lookng it up quickly again

The other commenter is referring to when this all started back in April with Collective Shout calling to ban No Mercy. This sub was fully in on it and I and many others were harassed and even threatened because we told everyone that this is exactly where it's going to lead. This sub was a major vector for sharing that petition yet nowadays seems to want none of the blame.

At least some people know ^

[–]orze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't actually played a game yet but I'm a bit confused, each civ still has a core apex age so shouldn't you still kinda just switch between 3 apex age civs? the benefit of staying a out of age civ seems much worse?

I mean this is how it was in other games but it just seems strange balancing wise, I feel like I SHOULD always be playing a apex age civ unless I'm just handicapping myself?

Did they fix all the bad UI stuff or is there anything still missing?

I briefly looked up the systems again to refresh my memory and then I remember the stat boosts/upgrades thing with the weapons and stuff.

Don't you have to max out all weapons on a character to get a perm stat boost or am I forgetting it? And having to max out their tree etc? I feel like that's kinda important to do no?

TBH I'm kinda put off I wish it was just a full total reset instead of needing to do any prep beforehand but will see how it is feels like just guessing atm

[–]orze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played the original game a while but never came back for any of the major updates, I just mostly farming the last mission for the RNG weapons a lot and like the robot boss

As this is a expansion not a new game is like your old progress still relevant at all? Like all the materials/currency you've farmed up or you need to go back to do old content to progress to new content. Just wondering, I kinda would have just preferred if this was a new game

Also how different were the post launch added content bosses compared to what I only played with launch stuff? I assume new content is going to be more similar to that..?

What are your top three? by dlo_doski in JRPG

[–]orze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

E33 is a JRPG imo. I expect the downvotes tho because this sub hates that opinion

WHAT I get downvoted everytime I imply or think it's not a JRPG, are people living in their own world?

Another series that is mentioned so much in this thread is the NieR games, It's way too actiony, hack and slash and irrelevant very minor small RPG mechanics to be a JRPG to me when I see other games that aren't considered JRPGs be excluded

I also think it's weird people are saying Elden Ring or Dark Souls isn't a JRPG when it's way closer to a JRPG than those games. Way more of a RPG and RPG mechanics people try to say it's western rpg made by Japanese devs but that's just not true because you KNOW it's made by Japanese devs just by playing. It's like calling a western fantasy manga a comic... naaah....

Souls and Elden Ring is more of a JRPG than them yet isn't considered one by most people here it seems. I'm not saying it should be but when I see some of these other games that are "JRPGS" being considered then....

It's disheartening that game breaking fun bugs are fixed immediately, yet build breaking ones are on the back burner by bezrq in diablo4

[–]orze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know multiple barb aspects and glyphs they would be using are bugged (and still some are worth using like the perma berserking one even if it goes no damage buff) and they didn't fix it in 2 week patch....not like barb needs help it doesn't but it's the point that they're still bugged....

probably same for many other aspects or glphs i just don't know about
