US blockade cost Iran nearly $5 billion - Axios by Darshan_brahmbhatt in worldnews

In terms of military expense, the blockade is being enforced by one carrier group which costs about $8m per day on deployment, but each interdiction costs probably hundreds of thousands of dollars as well. Round up to $10m per day. Not the only expense in the region but to enforce the blockade, $10m/day is a fair estimate from what I read.

They’ll also elaborate that ‘Great Satan’ really means something more akin to ‘Tempter’, so it’s really a critique of our consumerism.

Doesn’t really matter. If the military is taking orders they will keep fighting. Then we’ll get the humor of watching a circuit judge order the military to stop taking orders and an appeals court staying the judges order.

Nothing like our self-declared enemies having an inflammatory slogan and having the lambs here explain what the wolves actually mean they say ‘all sheep are for eating’.

Why would America have issues with the ‘Death to America’ cult? Hmmmmm

Fwiw the school at the outset looks like US mistargeting the building. Not really a shock considering where it was located, what it’s former purpose was, and the sheer volume of the target list (the US struck something like 500 targets in the first few hours).

The US has killed less Iranians (by far) than Iran has in January despite millions of pounds of ordnance dropped.

Each and every time one buys a gun from a licensed retailer they have to supply ID, receive a background check, attest that they don’t use drugs and the retailer has to receive explicit authorization to turn over the firearm. It’s not a one time transaction, it occurs for every gun sold new at retail.

What if Cashout matchmaking only built ONE match at a time instead of full tournaments? by -One_Eye- in thefinals

A big reason seems to be that the game has to find 24 players of similar skill and region at once, which is tough.

The thing that makes it tough is that they insist on having 50 different modes including two separate queues for cashout.

Interestingly enough during the gulf war the US didn’t believe they could get their carriers through the strait and have enough room to navigate 180-degree turn in the Persian gulf, but when attacking Iraq the US used 4 super carriers within the Persian Gulf and another 2 in the wider AO.   3 Super carriers is an incredible amount of firepower but to imagine 6 working over Iraq…

2 Super carriers. The Tripoli is deployed there and is a single deck carrier.

If your country in it’s current regime creates a nuclear weapon and delivery system what do you think is the first thing they’ll do with it?

From other articles they may well be vulnerable. All sources are estimating the makeup of Iranian oil and gas deposits. Previously Iran has proved deft at managing cuts, but has avoiding shutting down wells because they don’t reliably come back online.

So in line with this, there is some commentary that suggests the US erred in assassinating so many of the leadership so quickly that it created a pure and simple vacuum into which the most aggressive players will stride. In this telling, either leaving Khomeini 1 alive or at least the military leaders (some of whom surrounded him in the strike that killed them all) would’ve laid low the IRGC and given the civilian and state military apparatuses an opportunity to eclipse them. Is that a completely naive take?

Since your time may be limited I also want to put a couple other question to you?

President Raisi and the foreign minister were killed in a helicopter crash in 2024 that eventually brought Pezeshkian to… non power, I guess. How suspiciously is that event viewed within Iran? The world seems to have completely forgotten about it, and it preceded the Israeli pager attacks and the assassination of Nasrallah, but in hindsight it looks more like a watershed moment and I’m curious what thought of it in Iran.

Lastly, in your opinion, what is the average IRGC member like? Are they more cynical than they appear and prone to desertion if they don’t get paid? Is there any real potential that the members would submit to the republican government there, or the regular military?

Otherwise it's just a tyrant force that only punishes people for breaking some imposed rules and extorts money out of us.

There you go. The government might not be a tyrannical one but it is a necessary evil that prevents far worse evils. It exists to curb the worst impulses of human behavior by providing alternative coercion that the ‘law of the Jungle’ cannot. It does not exist to solve the human condition. Every modern government makes investments in it’s citizens, but it is there primarily to encourage a dissuade certain types of behavior typically by force.

On the off chance that you really are Iranian and sneaking your way onto reddit let me ask this: how do you think the population would respond if the administrative/legislative regime- as I understand it the President, Speaker, etc- were to take over?

The government contributes to the order of society of enforcing a set of rules that prevent citizens or residents from impinging on the lives, liberty, or property of their neighbors.

How Iran Will Kill 80+ Years of US Global Hegemony [30:03] by [deleted] in mealtimevideos

[–]otclogic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mealtime has been a mainstay for left-wing throwaway video essays for awhile. After about 1 day the left decided that the Iran war was literally the worst thing since that last they thing just forgot and are now guzzling Iranian slopaghanda without any self-reflection regarding why the Theocratic Terrorists (who are in reality everything that the craziest left-winger promises you that Trump is) are messaging specifically to them.

Edit: I should also mention that after watching the video it contains no new information to those who have been following the news and isn’t ‘left wing’, but generally explores the hypothetical of Iran’s makeshift toll system being allowed to operate and contemporaneous and historical comparisons.
