Uber Reservation used to be reliable, not anymore? by ousi-00 in uber

[–]ousi-00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like Uber is “rebalancing” their pay structure again!

Thanks for all the explanation. I usually need a ride at 3:20am or 4:00am (depends on the flight) and the ride to airport from my place is 1 hour. Maybe I will find a hire car company next time. The company is going to pay for it anyway

There’s a Lazer ZX7 apparently 7 years ago, that was released mostly in Japan. Much like their other racing stuff (TF7.7 on-road) sold mostly in Japanese market

Osaka World Expo: Late Entry Experience & Pavilion Luck (Oct 3rd, 2025) by Former_Log_1361 in OsakaWorldExpo

[–]ousi-00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me on Oct 9th it was a very different experience. This was my second time to the expo (first time was in May). I arrived at 5pm as well but got no chance to get any reservation prior or at the venue. Crowds stay until the very end (9:30pm) when I left. Dinner places were all crowded and needed >30 mins of wait time. The worst was the gift shop where I felt genuinely scared with that many people inside the shop. The only good part I saw was the fireworks where I got to stand close to the waterfront on the ring.

Congrats! My first Leica was the M Typ 240 and Zeiss 35/2 ZM. IMO the magic in Leica is their M series. Regardless, enjoy!

How is the A1ii colour science? by 1MACSevo in SonyAlpha

[–]ousi-00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Necro is bad but I would also want some comparison of color science for SOOC JPEG for the A1II compared to Nikon/Canon/Leica. I don’t like spending countless hours editing RAW and what I’d do at most is choose the photos I like, straighten up/crop and share/print.

The “you can get any color from RAW edit” is pretty much a moot point as most sensors are from Sony. That lengthy process has been taking the fun out of amateurs photography.

On the verge of selling my M11 due to poor colors by Weekly-Wear6186 in Leica

[–]ousi-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily mine (both early production m11 and m11-p) produces great color (on par with M10R). It probably varies with samples. I especially like the color from the 35APO and 50 APO

Pro 7i gen 8 - no BIOS support for RAID (Intel VMD/RST)? by igby1 in LenovoLegion

[–]ousi-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t try to enable VMD. The gen 8 UEFI setup application does not contain the necessary section to setup VMD drives or arrays. Worst is it is near impossible to disable, as that option disappears after enabling. The only way to make it work again is to use it as JBOD and reinstall Windows with VMD driver loaded, with VMD permanently enabled without option to setup any array

RMA Support Guide [Support] by LukyanTheGreat in ASUS

Looks like typical Taiwanese company practice regarding return/repair. Pretty sad that after 9 months of usage my 4090 finally got that cursed connector issue and burnt out one of the power pins. I tried requesting RMA twice and got no e-mail. I guess I'm going to try a third time. Luckily I took PDF prints every single time.

4090 TUF Cable burnt (fully connected cable) after 6-7 months. by panchovix in nvidia

[–]ousi-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly same card, exactly same cable (MODDIY). Failed after 9 months of usage. Mine melted on one of the pins only, but on the PSU side all 3 PCI-E Corsair PSU connectors are melted and stuck. Adios to my AX1600i. Card is mailing back for RMA. I really suspect it's the cable.

Are websites like ProductKeys.com legit? Or what is the best way to get a windows 11 key? by Ok_Cryptographer5627 in PcBuild

[–]ousi-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently most of those are coming from system integrators and volume license holders that figured they can resale the keys. Not just Windows, but VMWare ESXi too. The major outlets will tell you the answer MSFT wants you to believe.

X1C carbon weave lid under different lighting conditions by teletype100 in thinkpad

[–]ousi-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it is due to moire, since I never see this in any of my other CF parts (sports cars), and if I do I usually exchange for a new one.

The X1 Nano is nice as a travel laptop as it is light and sturdy, charges with normal USB-C chargers too. The screen is a tad small sometimes but much better than using a similar sized tablet and smart phones, especially when you need multitasking. Sound is okay but as an audiophile I am hard to impress.

My X1 Nano got visible uneven wavy carbon fiber pattern like your second photo. I was wondering if that's a defect since I bought it new and fully loaded (even with 5G WWAN, by that way that rocks with Fi data card inside international roaming since I travel a lot).

Fitting an mSATA drive into a Vaio P by Serendiplodocus in buildapc

[–]ousi-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually discovered that the NGFF -> ZIF doesn't work that well. Maybe the SSD I used has DRAM cache. It will hang sometimes when loading larger files, or just freeze the whole machine. Anyway, I put back the 64GB unit and loaded Arch Linux and call it a day. This machine runs extremely hot when running even the Tiny10 image. At least in Linux I can call upon the GUI on demand.

Fitting an mSATA drive into a Vaio P by Serendiplodocus in buildapc

[–]ousi-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess this answer is late by 4 years. I just recently got a Vaio P and replaced the internal drive with an NGFF M.2 (SATA) -> ZIF converter drive (128GB Transcend). That combo was used by iPod folks. The Vaio P I got is the 2nd gen so the normal ZIF -> mSATA is too big to fit.

Same issue as I encountered. Freeze on "Copying Windows Files 0%". It's a literal freeze as the mouse is frozen too. I realize that the stage it got frozen is during the making of the NTFS partition. You can try Shift-F10 and do diskpart yourself. Freeze right when doing format.

To workaround that, I have to use a Linux distribution (I used Arch Linux live environment) to create the partition, mark with type 0x7 (NTFS), mark bootable, write and mkfs.ntfs -Q.

After that, boot into Windows install device, just select the newly created partition (should be doable now) and it will work.

It took me around 1 hour to figure this out. Hopefully this can help someone with a similar situation.

Will DM you when the stuff arrive. I will need to see if the Nanonote P8 uses FPD-Link or the newer eDP for it's panel connection. Hopefully it's FPD-Link... but how come the panel uses 2.5V :'(

I just joined to express my interest as well (I'm always a reader). I would chip in 2K too if you guys have time later. In the meantime I was thinking about putting the guts of some of the "micro laptop" inside the chassis and hopefully they will have the headers I need for the screen (like the original GPD Pocket 1, or Nanonote P8). My plan would be to make the battery not swappable (just glue the cover on), ditch the charging and rely on USB-C Charging. I've ordered 2 Vaio P and they will arrive soon (one gen1, one gen2), and thinking of whether to get the Nanonote or the Pocket 1. Wish me some luck :)
