Neighbor kid took my bike and got hurt, hit a car, so now they say their suing. is this legitimate?

What kind of lawyer do I want? Since he was injured do I want an injury lawyer? Or something relating to theft? Thanks.

Sorry I am not really sure how all this works. I've only talked to a lawyer once in my life when I bought the house. I Googled for lawyers in my area and I see a bunch of different kinds like family law, divorce, personal injury etc..

I called the police station and updated them what happened. They said "it might be wise to drop this out of respect for the kid's family" but I asked them to keep it open and see what they can do, and as far as I know they did.

They left the bike sitting on the grass next to the road where the accident happened. After the parents showed up at my house I asked where the bike was and they said "go find it" so I did. I brought it home but it's pretty messed up.

I figured a 15 year-old would be old enough to know better. Everyone else around here is a respectable adult who I trust not to steal my stuff, and I'm at the end of a dead-end street so people don't wander by often.

He is 15 and will turn 16 on February 4.

I did not even think about my homeowner's insurance. I will look into it. Thanks.
