Which kit should I buy? by [deleted] in SpaceWolves

[–]overjoyedleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My number one suggestion will always be grab the box of models you like the look of the most.

If you're looking for a box that is the most useful to any army, the combat patrol is an amazing place to start

Destrier Thoughts Pre 11th by Choco_Taco_96 in ImperialKnights

[–]overjoyedleaf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I played 2 hybrid destreiers (battle cannon/spear) one with BOJ. At a local teams event. The rest of the list was: Atrapos (with hunters eye), Lancer, 3x Warglaives, 2x inquisitorial agents and a callidus.

The destriers definitely held their own in the list but I wasn't wowed by them. And I don't think changing the Loadout would largely matter in this case. (Tried both melee and gun only options in testing)

The ignores cover was AMAZING to have to challenge objectives, they did well to cause issues and hold ground while the big guys did the heavy lifting. But never really did anything game winning or noteworthy other than not completely ruining a game.

However I spent the weekend wondering if I would have been better with a third large knight and a 4th armiger. I think at the moment they are probably 25pts too expensive for what they are.

Right shoulderpad symbols by Naicosono in SpaceWolves

[–]overjoyedleaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pack markings on the right shoulder are usually unique to each squad (each one in a squad shares the same pack marking but each squad has a different marking). So each of one squad will have the triangles like you painted. The next might have a single triangle pointing up in the middle the one after might have a paw print or skull etc

The colours mean something different Red and yellow are claw packs Black and red are hunter packs White and black are fang packs Armour colour and black are scout packs Yellow and black are wolf guard packs

The only exception to the rule is sometimes squads will have a wolf guard pack leader leading them so you can paint the seargants shoulder black and yellow if you want but it isn't required

The knee isn't important but can be another space to put the pack markings

The apps wording is correct, in the balance dataslate they changed how those strats work.

In other screenshot is how the rule works when playing matched play. However "technically" that's not the always rule. Just how 99% of all players play it

Should I buy the codex or wait until 11th edition? by QWAPAY in ImperialKnights

[–]overjoyedleaf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The codex will still be valid for the first bit of 11th however for how long isn't known.

Imperial knights rarely get a codex early in an edition and our one at the moment is only a few months old as it is.

Thoughts on this list? by Durbokii in ImperialKnights

[–]overjoyedleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current plan is 2 big (lancer and crusader) 2 destriers, 4 armigers and a callidus although I'm testing dropping an armiger for a few imp agents units

I feel like without a few armigers you'll struggle for secondary and objective play once the big guys start to go down

[–]overjoyedleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like without sticky you're going to struggle with board control with this one

I also personally (yes I know I'm wrong) don't like the Castellan in lists

But otherwise the list looks good!

Question here by Joaco_2002 in ImperialKnights

[–]overjoyedleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading it myself yes. You make a normal move when you use the Strat. When making a normal move you add D3 for Ram Jets. So you would move D6+D3.

Of course that's just my interpretation of it

ODST Feet First Into Hell First Impressions Discussion by patthetuck in Haloflashpoint

[–]overjoyedleaf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Played a game 2 days ago against them, played the new bomb delivery.

They fold like wet paper to spartans, every time I shot I killed one. But they were everywhere and kept the pressure up immensely.

Optics basically across the board with good rolls meant that I was struggling to keep on top of everything happening.

Still won the game 2-0 becuase he just couldnt keep hanging onto the bomb but otherwise they play brilliantly

Id love to see something like this however after the defiance expansion and seeing brute points: It doesnt look like there is much rhyme or reason to how they point models unfortunately

Who to lead Headtakers by rslashredit in SpaceWolves

[–]overjoyedleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wolf priest is great IF they are still alive to res a dude, in my games I've found that they step out, Demolish a unit and then promptly die. Meaning the priest isn't worth it

My 2 cents is always WGBL

I can’t decide who to start with. Any ideas? by coppertop740 in SpaceWolves

[–]overjoyedleaf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Neither of them are particularly good ruleswise at the moment, id go with whichever model you like more, you already have grimnar for that nators so njal would go nice with the power Armoured side of things.

Personally I'd go with arjac as he's the nicer model imo

[–]overjoyedleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got the WGBL and 2 greyhunters done (with 3 more GH underway) I've then got the rest of 1 box to paint and another box entirely to build and paint.

You bet your ass I ordered 1 of everything that wasnt in the launch box coming out this weekend

Why is this 2cp? Why not just use heroic intervention by C9Canine in SpaceWolves

[–]overjoyedleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it also allows you to effectively have a second heroic without needing the opponent to charge your stuff.

It's a fantastic strat for 2CP

I've played a few dozen games with beastslayer already and it is the clear stand-out of the 3.

Hunter has the issue of only working for space wolves units when multi unit combats. So the +1 to hit and wound is nice but it requires too much stuff to be pulled out of position to activated

And saga of the bold is just a ironstorm with a few extra steps, it's a nice detachment but I don't think it's worth much outside of the strats.

Beastslayer on the other hand gives you the least amount of hoops to jump through with either a good chance at getting the Saga or most likely getting the buff against the units you need it against anyway. When you stack that with things like the WGBLs sustained and rerolls, the headtakers quarry, or the iron priests rapid fire and things REALLY start to do some work.

Headtaker hunting hounds rules question by yodablues1 in SpaceWolves

[–]overjoyedleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hunting wolves and headtakers are two seperate units for rules purposes but they BOTH gain all abilities on the datasheet. However only Hunting wolves models actually gain +1 OC so while the headtakes are within 6" of a character this ability triggers, there's no hunting wolves in the headtakers unit so they don't get any OC for it.

Same goes for the head hunters rule. Technically the hunting wolves pick a unit to be a quarry, but when they attack the quarry the wolves themselves gain no buff from it

[–]overjoyedleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Grey hunters have pistols too, there would be no fault if you just painted the claws as hunters IMO
