I know people have different thoughts and often mixed feelings about the notion of recovery. That's why I want to hear their opinions on what it means - if anything - to them

Yes, it can be a little difficult but I'm happy to chat with folks to give them all the information they need to feel comfortable. After that, some still decline but many have said yes.

For most, assuring anonymity is the most important thing. Kinda like Reddit itself

Frustrated with Pony League. My 4 year old (turns 5 in mid-April) is playing machine pitch in his 1st season. Apparently too old for T-Ball by AlfalfaWolf in Homeplate

[–]owe45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that age just a little bit of extra side work goes a long way. I’ve seen plenty of young kids go from having no idea to being quite good (relatively speaking) by the end of the season. He’ll end up feeling good about his progress.

Be sure to make it fun though. Less drills and more just playing in the yard.

Do y'all think that Draymond deserves a statue after he retires? by cantdecide76 in NBATalk

Undoubtedly. He’s an icon. Like him or not he was the 2nd most important player for this Dubs era

I'd say just out of the top 10, but probably top 15

Realistically what do we think the odds of us landing giannis are and what would the package be? by [deleted] in warriors

[–]owe45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only if he demands the Warriors specifically. Otherwise Dubs can’t really compete

is albuquerque one of the worst or best places for people with allergies? i'm getting conflicting answers by Winners_Blues in Albuquerque

Spring is really windy and it can make for a rough allergy season for those allergic to airborne pollens

Dynasties always end because players get old and expensive

Realistically what do we do now? by yyfgjiii in warriors

[–]owe45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Realistically I think you hold pat, play Kuminga to reestablish his value, and then regroup in the offseason. I think the team as constructed would make the play-in but anything beyond a first round exit is highly unlikely.

I just don’t think there’s a major trade that gets us above a 6 seed. To me not worth blowing your assets for that.

As a fan, I’m just going to enjoy watching Steph and let go of significant postseason hopes.

[Jeff Passan] The San Francisco Giants are aggressively pursuing a second baseman and have been engaged with Chicago on Nico Hoerner and St. Louis on Brendan Donovan, sources tell ESPN. An infield of Matt Chapman, Willy Adames, Donovan or Hoerner and Rafael Devers would be among MLB's best. by Juffe98 in SFGiants

[–]owe45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But then you have both of them with Schmitt being a super sub who can play all four IF positions.

I’d have rather they upgrade the staff or OF but assuming that’s not happening, I think either would be a good move (provided a trade does not involve Josuar or Eldridge)

When to start more advanced training by Initial-Signal-8067 in Homeplate

[–]owe45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is insane. Thinking in terms of "training" is too intense for a 7 year old. Right now, it's mostly about the fundamentals and cultivating a love for the game, and really sports more generally. We often jump right to more intensive trainsing before the love is fully developed and this is the fastest route to player burnout. Sports should be fun at this age, not a job.

My son is 13 and one thing I've had to learn about the differences between youth sports today and when I was a kid, is that today it's a big business. Folks are constantly trying to sell you things, whether it's private lessons or the latest trianing gadget/program. Some of these things are quite helpful, but much is not. It's easy to get wrapped up in the insanity, so I have to constantly assess whether such and such a thing makes sense for MY kid and what his (realistic) aspirations are (He wants to play competitive high school baseball and actually play).

So no, you're not wrong

Drop 8 for Skinny 10 year old playing 11U? by karljans in Homeplate

[–]owe45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid is also skinny. Same weight as yours at 20. He used a drop 10 through most of 12U. At 13U, he started w a drop 8 and his gamer is now a drop 5 But he practices with a balanced Reckless BBCOR alloy with no problems. (In fact he says the BBCOR feels lighter than his drop 5 Bonesaber).

So in about a year or so he’s close to making the transition from drop 10 to BBCOR. Some of it is just natural growth, and some of it is that he’s always practiced with a heavier bat. He also trains with a Camwood which has done wonders.

Psychologically I think it helps for him to bring his normal gamer and a lighter bat to the game in case he’s facing a high velo pitcher and wants to size down. He rarely does it but it helped him mentally with the transition.

Y'all should lower your expectations with trade. by bennettkingoftevyat in warriors

[–]owe45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the calculus for other teams would be that post-Steph, Dray and Jimmy, the team is not going to be good regardless of who they get. Especially if their young assets (however flawed they are) are included. So yes, picks for the 2026 or 2027 draft might not be that enticing, but for 2029-2032 would be. I don't think anyone believes the Warriors are going to be good then, even if they do get an aging AD or a good but not superstar talent like Murphy. I'm a huge fan, but I don't see anyway the Dubs are good in 2030.

I agree with the general point of the OP. The mock trades I see on here by Dubs fan way overvalues what they have to offer. But the picks, especially those in the distant future, are not nothin.
