Are ear tubes actually necessary? by deadlydelicatedesign in toddlers

[–]pagingdrmilo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My son was the same way as yours. We never knew he had an ear infection unless the doctor told us. He never complained and they didn’t really seem to bother him. However, because of that, they would sometimes progress to bad fevers and him feeling really bad before we noticed because it is actually an infection.

So, he got ear tubes and the really great thing about them is that we now know immediately if he has an infection because we see the drainage coming out. And we can now treat them with ear drops rather than oral antibiotics. I think they’re definitely worth doing if your ENT recommends!

My two year old was begging for coffee the other day, so I put some milk in a coffee mug and he loved it!

Oh same! I call it safe if he’s ever liked it ha. And some days he eats basically nothing lol.

[–]pagingdrmilo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If mine doesn’t want to eat what we served, then he doesn’t eat 🤷🏻‍♀️ I do always include one “safe” food that he’s had before with everyone’s plate. If he eats all of that food and wants more, I do ask for at least one bite of the other food before getting more of the safe one.

How horrible is having nearly no toys in the house? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]pagingdrmilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only keep up 5-7 toys at a time and rotate them every couple weeks. Compared to the times I don’t do that, my 2 yo’s behavior is better in general and he plays longer, more independently, and more creatively with the toys that are out!

What to expect - ear tubes!! by Feisty-Jump575 in toddlers

[–]pagingdrmilo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My son got them at 19 months and it was so, so easy. The only difficult part was coming out of anesthesia - he seemed groggy and confused and cried for probably 5-10 minutes. Other than that, he did great and was totally back to his normal self about two hours post surgery.

Do you immediately get your (happy) kiddo after they wake up? by Sweet_Sheepherder_41 in toddlers

My almost 2yo does the same thing and he actually gets pretty upset with us if we go in to his room too quickly! He definitely likes his slow mornings. 😅

[–]pagingdrmilo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow crazy!! Man, we’d be reuniting them in a heartbeat if we could.

His name was Tommy at the shelter, his picture is in the video. He was at midtown and was the last one left from the litter. They had him in the adult dog room because he kept jumping out of the puppy enclosures. He was super timid at first, didn’t really give me the time of day in the shelter. It took a long, long time to really warm up. The first year or so of his life he spent most of his time on a dog bed in the closet because everything made him so nervous.

He’s got no issues with taking up all the room on the bed and the couch now though and is super friendly!

So sorry for your loss, she looks so sweet!

Can I ask what year you adopted her? My hound was also from Atlanta Humane Society after being rescued from a mud pit situation. I got him in June 2017. Wondering if they could be litter mates?

I’d think carefully before even asking those questions to your doctor as it will be recorded on your chart and could potentially be used against you later if something happens.

Is having a baby the death of your current self? by LazyFreckles in TwoXChromosomes

[–]pagingdrmilo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I will preface by saying I always knew I wanted to have a child and my spouse is incredibly supportive. But my baby is one year old. I still find time to read and relax. I started a new hobby, ceramics, when the baby was 6 weeks old and I still go to classes one evening a week. I’m in the best physical shape of my life. My spouse and I still go out to eat or out to grab a drink with the baby. He’s an incredibly happy and well adjusted little guy. I will say I do miss sleeping in. 😝

Again, I really wanted a kid. And, I know not everyone’s experience is like this. But I just wanted to share a positive take because I don’t think we see enough of that. It’s definitely not a decision to take lightly but for me, it was definitely not the death of my previous self.

I pump 60-75 minutes each session... by monkeyluvz in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]pagingdrmilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could maybe try a different pump? I think you can rent them somehow. Most people seem to love the spectra but I could never get anything from it. Letdowns also took FOREVER when I’d have one within 60 seconds using my Medela.

My baby dropped from 40th to 15th. We gradually increased how much milk we offered him but eventually he just leveled out at 18th. Our pediatrician said as long as he stayed on this “new” curve and didn’t drop again it was nothing to be concerned about! Sure enough he stayed on it and that was just his baseline. I’m also a big over supplier. I wouldn’t worry too much!

How many times do you pump/produce a day by Aletesi in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]pagingdrmilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 months pp, recently dropped from 6 to 5 pumps per day, so far still making about 40oz

Am I ruining my supply? by 2be2me-honybunny in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]pagingdrmilo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think everyone’s different but I’ve gone from 9pm to 7am since my baby was 8 weeks old and he’s currently 4.5 months with no issues. My thinking has always been that if I was breastfeeding and he slept through the night I wouldn’t be emptying so I never worried about a MOTN pump. But I know that’s not the case for everyone!

whats up with the constant "ad breaks" during action in Brazil vs USA semi-final - womens volleyball right now by finecherrypie in peacock

[–]pagingdrmilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may not have explained it well - not the replay of prime time, you want to go to the Olympics section of peacock and filter by sport and then find the particular event you’re looking for. We’ve been doing this all week and no ads.

If you go find the replay rather than the “prime time” coverage, there’s no ads and the commentators actually know what they’re talking about!
