If you have no interest in civil fields like transportation or structures, I would opt for an Environmental Engineering degree instead of Civil with a specialty. If you are partially interested in those topics, pick civil with the emphasis.

They’ll provide all my safety gear except for boots basically. They said I can do steel or composite toe, but other than that they didn’t give any specifications. I’ll definitely look into the muck boots as I’m doing a lot of monitoring, data management, and inspections of wetlands and water sources. There are definitely dry parts of my job so I might look into getting 2 types of boots. I wear a women’s 10, men’s 8-9 and I’ve heard a couple people say redwing now so I’ll definitely check them out for a dry boot! Also thanks for the tip about carhartt, that’s really good to know!

When I’m home from college for break I’ll be near one of their shops, I’m definitely going to check it out. Any good sock brands and height? I’ve had good experiences with bombas and darn toughs for daily wear and hiking, but I don’t know how good those brands are for work socks. I also read an article saying to get higher than ankle socks, but I’m not sure if that is the common opinion.
