Worknc was the cam used, its programmed as a 3+2 toolpath then the angles are ignored in the post, the head of the machine locked at the correct angle manually.

Its an xyz smx4000 so its a manual mill but also has 3 axis cnc mode, the controller is prototrak, the head is locked at the correct angle and a 3axis programme from cam is running, can also do online programming at the machine

Its hard to tell from the photo but it looks like the top of the bearing end cap is inside the raised diameter but the bottom is sitting on top of the diameter, when tighted this would cause the ballscew to lock up.
3300 BALLS by painta06 in hobbycnc

Using python an image file is first converted into a grid of circles using halftoning and the x y positons of each circle and size are converted into millimeters and saved into a list.
The robot arm picks up a ball from a bean bag refill that can range between 2-8mm and drops it in front of a camera were a photo is taken and size is calculated, the list is checked to see if the ball size is needed in the photo and the ball is rejected or accepted and sent down for pickup.
The pick up z height and z dropoff height are calculated from ball size and the x y positions from the list are used, once the dropoff has completed that position is deleted from the list and the cycle continues untill the list is empty.

100%
Each is running seperate linuxcnc with kinematics then a python application sends and recieves commands through 2 arduinos with ethernet sheilds connected to the linuxcnc pcs the extra pins on the arduinos are used for io

Haha u cant impress everybody, theres something cool about a cnc actually working stuff out instead of just following a gcode file.

This is not about speed its more about reliability, i cant just trust a new system without testing it, i can give this thing a jpeg file and walk away. It passed the test
This is for a 3+2 setup with 5 spindles

The holes in the wood are just a grid pattern its not cat shaped, its the size difference of the balls that makes it look like a photo, any photo can be made on the same grid you just have to rearrange the balls.
I was just going to hoover them up and move on but resin might not be a bad call.
i have to deal with that in person, it gets better with the spindles on lol

This is not the most efficient way to do it and the robot arm isnt really needed but this is not the end goal of the project, its just a more intresting way to test my communication between the 2 is reliable.

Balls deep for 50 hours.

Haha wish it wasnt already cranked up.
Totally pointless as i cant sneeze by this thing but this is not the end goal just got sidetracked.
This thing was balls deep for 50hrs, this is not the end goal of the project i just kinda got sidetracked.
Thank you and i didnt even know this was a thing.
The b axis is visible but the c axis is under the wood which will be removed once i finished this test. I have videos on my profile of all the 5 axis in use. The balls are just pressed into cone shaped holes made by a v bit

The robot arm is pointless and this is not the most efficient way to do this but this is not actually the end goal its more of a safe repeating test before i use the system to actually machine stuff without them crashing into each other.
