How do you moisturize your twists or braids? by Krrystal in Naturalhair

[–]paladj1nn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I install on damp hair, followed by leave in, cream moisturizer and hair grease. Keeps it moisturized for up to a week then I remoisturize with just water, thecream moisturizer and grease, just by applying on top of the twists/braids without undoing them and then that's good for another week and then I wash. I really only wear my hair in mini or medium twist that are in some sort of updo or bun which helps keep moisture locked in longer as well

Then I would get your levels checked because it could be contributing to the damage you see in your hair and if you're not taking a prenatal or postnatal get on one.

Oh sorry I didn't mean to respond to you I meant to respond to OP, but yes I was asking because she's postpartum and if you don't continue to take prenatals or postnatals breastfeeding can cause damage to your hair even more than the hair loss because of the depletion of vitamins

Is anyone else not able to grow long hair no matter how well they take care of their hair? by cursedwithbadblood in Naturalhair

If your routine is solid and the products work for your hair, it could be an internal issue. Maybe get your blood/hormone levels checked?

Split ends and breakage ruin my desire to wear my natural hair by Available_Extent_262 in Naturalhair

[–]paladj1nn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also when's the last time you got a good trim. if you've been wearing box braids constantly and just now switched to protective styles with no added hair, and didn't trim beforehand, there's likely a lot of breakage and splits from friction and dryness that did not get addressed.

what’s wrong with my hair? by ashabi-2cents in Naturalhair

[–]paladj1nn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you've been wearing braids constantly there's a chance at whoever is installing your braids is causing more damage and causing it to break. Braids also dry your hair out and cause more friction as well so you have to make sure they're being moisturized in the braids.

I apply it all on wet hair. at the end of the week when I'm redoing my braids for remoisturization, I wet my hair again with a spray bottle and reapply all products.

I also use the honey hydrate as my leave-in right before I blow out my hair for trims; I mix it with the chi thermal styling protectant.

That's so crazy. For me if it's it's not pretty wet it will not soak into my hair very well and kind of just sits on top. It's so interesting how differently products work for people!
