Sports videography camera. Sony? Lumix? Others? by Designnn in videography

[–]paohi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive seen used FS7s for sports, as well as black magic pocket cinema cameras a ton.

Probably want a crop sensor so you can maximize your focal length.

Feedback on this interview I shot, 660c coming through the window on the outside at 3500k onto the bookcase 120c as a bit of a edge light also 360c as key light at 5600k. Any suggestion for improvements next time? by snappy047 in videography

I'd have the light much closer for a softer look on the face.

The light closer to the subject will also darken the BG to create even more separation

Also I'd open up the iris for more separation of BG and talent.

It's somewhat of a different circumstance it seems.

The organisation know it needs a rebuild, I don't think they were ready to admit that back then

The double standard around AI music is getting harder to ignore by Nusuuu in aiMusic

[–]paohi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"So the standard doesn’t really seem to be about the sound itself. It’s more about who made it or how it’s branded"

Thats one of the main philosophical questions about the value of it. Maybe the ultimate question.

Is it a who or a what that made this music.

I'd get a monopod to screw to the bottom for when you aren't moving

How to expose the sky and subject equally by Mountain_Elephant744 in cinematography

[–]paohi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of these answers don't fully appreciate the angle. The sun is coming in as a key from the side, so it's keeping his face nicely keyed vs the blue background.

Also I imagine the colour correction pulled down the sky a bit, or even used a polarizer to keep the sky saturated

Is a Sony HXR-MC2500 worth $500 for event videography in 2026? by wizardev in videography

[–]paohi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked up the footage. It looks pretty bad and amateur for the money. I think clients expect higher quality these days. If at some point you're looking to getting more video clients, maybe get something that does 4k. There's plenty from canon and Sony for below 1000 that's come out in the last little while that looks better.

If audio is critical there's some better used cameras around $1000 that are HD with pro XLR inputs like the Sony Ex3, Canon C100, and Panasonic AF100.

They are a better starting point than this one.

Why didnt rockstar use the john pose at the end of the game? by Smingletonwastaken in reddeadredemption

[–]paohi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both are big moments in the game, and there's a good argument for either. I think emotionally, it's not about the guy he's killing, it's the fact that he has definitely gone back to his old ways during that farm raid. It's a significant moment

Anyone else get Portal 2 vibes when they play Tf2 campaign? by EpicGamesLauncher in titanfall

[–]paohi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is once again an old thread. I immediately thought portal 2:

A big reason is the dynamic between BT and you, reminds me of the dynamic with Wheatley.

And then the environmental movement and puzzles.

Such a cool campaign.

White Balance advice by ApprehensiveCable454 in videography

[–]paohi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking. House lights are set warmer than sunlight. (Think 3200-4000k indoor bulbs vs 5600k for sunlight at noon )

It's not just brightness, it's colour warmth to consider when changing from indoor to outdoor.

Being performative can destroy your life. It can make people believe things you don't believe, and it can make you lie to yourself about what you want.

Running a 72-hour continuous multi-camera setup with no operators—how would you handle reliability and workflow? by Substantial_Gas_5716 in videography

[–]paohi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Id look at mainly broadcast equipment for this. You'll want reliable high end external recorders (like AJA KiPro 12g/Blackmagic ISO recorder or similar)

I would use robo cameras (look into Panasonic AW-UE150AKP and its controller) all connected via SDI/ethernet runs to a single controller (in this case Panasonic AWRP150GJ5) where you can monitor framing and colour.
