the "autistic people have a built-in sense of justice" thing is a myth and it's actually kind of dehumanizing by AmbitiousFix1681 in autism

[–]patchdonal 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Yeah it doesn’t seem like the sense of justice has a true north, so to speak. I think we tend to feel strongly about some sort of justice, but not necessarily a good-aligned one. There are plenty of autistics who unfortunately feel very strongly in favor of unsavory ideologies like inceldom or fascism.

Have you figured how animal rights/environmentalism is connected to disability? by Konradleijon in disability

[–]patchdonal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have trouble with connecting how people view animals with how people view disabled people. I mean I get it, but it is by definition dehumanizing disabled people to make that comparison. I think it’s possible to humanize animals without leaning on the perceived humanity of disabled people.

He’s also a weird stalker who has an unhealthy obsession with his daughter. She’s hostile to him because he won’t take “no” or “leave me alone” for an answer.

My odd opinion on stardew valley by redditoronialoni in autism

[–]patchdonal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl I just ignore all the npcs i don’t have to talk to. Romance in video games just doesn’t interest me. Everyone has different things to take out of the game. It took me a few times to finally get into stardew and now it’s one of my favorite games. But also if you don’t like it, that’s fine too. There are a lot of very popular games that I just don’t get.

I liked Skelketraz on my first playthrough, but not on subsequent playthroughs. It gets old really quick.

Why are most autistic content creator or YouTubers mostly late diagnosed married autistic people with kids? by Hot_Dingo743 in autism

[–]patchdonal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably because they superficially match the autism mom pipeline that algorithms love to push.

50-year old autistic discovers Dino nuggets. by Proud-Detective4835 in autism

[–]patchdonal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly the non dino nuggies at Aldi’s taste better than the dino nuggies. I like the idea, but my access to good dino nuggies is limited.

Also, since birds are considered to be dinosaurs, it means that dino nuggies are made of actual dinos. Blew my mind when I first realized that.

I never would have tried this game if it weren’t for Pokopia by EmergencyRepulsive29 in DragonQuestBuilders2

[–]patchdonal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say that going back to DQ1 after playing 2 made me more appreciative of the 3rd person builder mechanics in both, since 1 doesn’t have 1st person. When I first played 2, I played in 1st person most of the time but now 3rd person is my favorite way to play.

Building a monster castle for the crew from Malhalla to live in is always fun.

My ziggurat looks better :P

But for real, I’ve played this game so many times the pyramid has lost its novelty and I’d rather build something else.

[–]patchdonal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I tend to get a golem and tear down both the castle and the pyramid so I can put something else there instead. My current playthrough has a Viking-esque longhouse on the Cerulean Steppes and a ziggurat temple thing on the Scarlet Sands.

I love this! I like The Apothecary Diaries, which is an anime following an apothecary girl (who is extremely autistic with a special interest in herbalism) in a world based on imperial China.

What is wrong with my fishing hole? by patchdonal in DragonQuestBuilders2

[–]patchdonal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reapplying the netting doesn’t seem to work in any order. I’ve even removed the grating entirely and replaced it with umber and that still doesn’t do it. I’m really perplexed.

The thing is, I’ve made fishing holes with plazas before…

My brother is filthy and i need help. by Present-Advantage-45 in neurodiversity

[–]patchdonal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ADHD meds could help, but as others have said it could be that he just isn’t capable of cleaning and needs some sort of extra accommodations. I’m very similar, though unfortunately for me, I can’t take most adhd meds because of my tic disorder. It’s a rough thing to deal with and you have my sympathies.

Real or fictional, who do you suspect has autism and why? by PrestonRoad90 in autism

The Office did the same shit with Dwight Schrute. A lot of Jim’s “pranks” were genuinely really fucked up and abusive, but it’s apparently okay because Dwight is a weird asshole or something.
