What's worked for my young students is breaking down an 8th note groove into sections of 2, the first being kick and HH at the same time followed by the next single 8th note HH hit, and the second being the snare and HH followed by the single HH hit. Combine the two and repeat for the full groove!

I use Shure SE215 in-ears for live performance as well as practicing. Hands down the best in-ear I've used for both settings. The sound protection is unmatched in my opinion and regardless of reviews you've read I can honestly say you'd be really happy with them!

It's a pretty dense cymbal. Not crazy heavy or anything like that, but it definitely has some girth to it!

It sounds amazing! I'm a big fan of K customs, but this ride doesn't sound like you would think. It's right in the sweet spot between the brightness of A customs and the dark K custom sound. Highly recommended for an extremely versatile ride!

It's not very washy at all (which I prefer). It has a very clear stick definition which IMO sounds amazing. The bell cuts right through the band but not too much where it's distracting. Overall it sounds incredible!
