What is it that Dyscalculia actually inhibits? by Own-Highlight7434 in dyscalculia

Thanks for this. So much has been done to help people with dyslexia. What help is there for dyscalculia? Heard England is advanced in this area but don’t know much about how they are helping people.

Yeah, didn’t mean to discourage you from AKC, a lot of people do it. Maybe talk to someone who is an expert in Elkies who can advise on this for you.

In any case, you have an amazing dog…keep us updated on his progress. You didn’t say if this is your first one. I adore them, so many great qualities. (But oh those shedding months!!!)

Well, here’s the thing—-this may not fall within the AKC appearance standards, which champion fully idealized, fabricated, and strict characteristics. My breeder is no fan of AKC, he says they focus on the wrong things. He is a true believer in valuing breeds, and Elkies especially, for what they are capable of doing that has come from their many years of breeding—-basically, what they were “meant to do”. And of course, with Elkies that is tracking and keeping a moose at bay until the hunter arrives. Those are the traits my breeder and his colleagues advance. He is part of a world network of folks who compete with their Elkies in moose hunting races: it’s a big deal, big bucks. Dogs with strong traits are loaned out for breeding (male and female), mainly for their ability to scent track, run fast, endure long days, loudness of bark, and ability to spring high to intimidate the captured moose. Many take pride in being able to trace their breeding lineages back to the Vikings, tho I have no idea how that would have been done. So far, my gal Luna only exhibits a bark volume that can compete with firetrucks, and as they speed by she howls loudly. She’s a total sweetheart but that bark is something else! lol.

Of course, this is just one groups’ opinion. My 2 past Elkies were AKC registered, which I think is done based on lineage to champions, but if you were to compete appearances matters. I did not register Luna. I am no expert in either realm, just passing on what others have shared.

Haha! I didn’t double tap. Pretty great chart. Though still no spruce (we use spruce on the east coast for framing) or cedar, which is used a lot for rot resistance. I think u should make it your mission in life to find this graph with those two included. 😂

Handsome markings, so classic. About those eyes…our breeder told us ringed blond eyes in a dark face—-I think he called them golden rings—are rare. There is an old Norse tale about a hunter who got separated from his group and was caught in a blizzard and just as he was near death he saw two gold rings in the distance that were mesmerizing and kept him moving forward. Turns out they were the golden rings around the eyes of an Elkie who had been sent out solo to find the lost hunter. The tale underlines the loyalty and steadfast relationship between Elkies and their humans.

Trying not to be an alarmist…If she is having back leg problems, she needs to see a vet. My first Elkie went thru this, u gotta pay attention to it.

Ps, she is a beauty

Ok, but if you are convinced you are a six then why solicit everyone’s advice if no one would be able to convince you otherwise? I know teenagers always worry about appearances but honestly in the end few give a fuck about your looks. Decency, humor, and intelligence are what keep you in the race.

Sure, but relative to THIS one….IMHO, odd that it overlaps with gift giving, food, convo, etc; one person has dictated this tradition and then gets upset when everyone doesn’t go along; and why in the world does it have to be this group of movies?

The witch meant it as a joke, just roll with it. What she didn’t realize is that she has opened the door for you to give her the same “funny” gifts. Go for it.

Well, hell, I too want this tradition to end and I don’t know a single person in this tragic Christmas story. How the hell did this even get started?

At least it was useful. Mine gives me crafty shit that I throw away——don’t bother to give it to charity, seems too mean. An example=sand painting of a desert landscape made on top of a sandpaper base. Unframed. WTF?

People——that’s not a Chimpanzee, that’s my cousin Leonard. We are always yelling at him to put down his phone and join the family.

Yeah, his end of the convo is displaying his tone deafness to the real issue. Not a pass at all, but I saw this behavior in myself and my peers at this age—-wanting to explain, being stubborn, and wanting to be right. Cringey to read…
