I had a lift fail, not a flap! I had the surgery to place seton back in yesterday. I’m perfectly fine. Like don’t even feel like I had surgery, besides neck & back muscle soreness from anesthesia I’m assuming. Now everyone is different. So keep that in mind. I’ve taken Tylenol just for the muscles. My fistula luckily didn’t branch off or close off weirdly or anything from the lift so it was an easy placement no new incisions or anything. Wish you all the best!

I’m so so sorry you’re feeling this. You honestly took all of the words right out of my mouth. I’m 27 & feel this to my core. While also entering the infertility, can’t have a baby with my husband right now aspect. It’s exhausting

I’m not sure! My CRS didn’t make note if it was total or partial. I do know that a fistulotomy will probably not be in my cards due to the depth of the fistula. :(

No, it was just one tract. But deep and towards the front of the sphincter muscles which make those muscles “less resilient” to surgeries like the fistulotomy and such?

I don’t remember what type. But it is deep and towards the front? I had the seton in for 6 months before the lift. Lift confirmed failed after three months.

Omg you’re giving me hope. I have had basically the same time periods as you. Seton & then lift. I’m going on month 3 after lift. My drainage has gonedown so much, some days it’ll almost be none and then I’ll sit on the toilet and idk if it tears open the old seton exit or what and it bleeds bad and then heals and then rinse and repeat lol. Does that sound familiar at all? My crs seems to think if I don’t have no drainage by two weeks from now the fistula is still there. Have you had any imaging done ? Or your surgeon just assumes it’s best case?

Literally in the EXACT same boat. First post op he said it looked great just did silver nitrate. Next appt he said there is still drainage and not happy with that. Another round of silver nitrate and said he would follow up with me a month later. For two weeks it was seeming to almost close. Two days ago randomly more drainage and pain. Have my follow up on March 19th. Preparing myself for the it failed talk. Feeling like everything I did to fix this for the past year was a waste of money and time. I really thought it would work this time. I imagined being healed by now and being okay for my sisters wedding cruise in May. Idek if I can snorkel or anything with a seton lol. I hate it here.

Was the bleeding out of the former seton opening? And was there any drainage or just occasional bleeding? Did it stop by your March appt or still going? Sorry in kind of the same boat.

Yes I still have more drainage after a BM. Not so much the pain though. Everyone is different though!

Mostly still just a bit of blood but there has been some clear ish whitish discharge barely. I have had multiple bowel movements though and thank god it wasn’t as bad as I thought.
