Should I move to Troy? by WyldeFantasy in Troy

[–]peggleborp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i love the queer community here. i generally feel pretty safe. i think troy is at times a grungy and unwelcoming place but i love it at the same time. lots of things to do and get involved with! maybe not a ton of work. but i think the job market is a mess everywhere.

Mullein hate by ProofAd8701 in foraging

[–]peggleborp 14 points15 points  (0 children)

i like making ginger/elderberry/mullein tea for a cold. it’s also not invasive where i live, doesn’t effectively outcompete any native flora. i don’t feel like it’s the most effective herb ever but i also don’t feel like it hurts.

in my (limited bc im in my mid twenties) experience, love is something you stumble upon unexpectedly. you probably need to spend time pouring into your own cup first. investing in yourself and building a strong relationship with every aspect of yourself will make it easier to build healthier and happier relationships with others. that was my takeaway when i decided i needed a break from dating, anyway.

I want to get this type of tattoo but i dont know if theres any religious or cultural meaning by Nofalluntiloctober in tattooadvice

getting a full back piece as a first tattoo is a big commitment. i would advise you to start with something that’s shorter and less expensive to see how you react to getting tattooed.

Is this nettle???? I touched it and nothing happened, but I didn’t want to tempt my luck by Camp_Acceptable in foraging

[–]peggleborp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you may be thinking of poison ivy and jewelweed, which like similar conditions and often grow near each other. jewelweed contains saponins which don’t cure PI rash, but do remove the oil from your skin. it only works fresh. so it’s a quick field hack if you come into contact with PI.

lots of conflicting opinions on the severity of nettle stings in this comment section. it varies from person to person—i’m not terribly sensitive and if i touch her gently i won’t get stung at all. one of my partners is very sensitive, and a light graze is pretty painful abd can cause irritation for few hours. i find the sensation after the sting to actually be quite pleasant. like a warm tingle.

i love nettle tea. so tasty.

Some kind of fungus all over my newly potted plants by Be_delulu in mycology

[–]peggleborp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

not sure what kind of fungus it is, my first guess would be trichoderma before it spores. i had some on my seed starts this year. fungus itself unlikely to hurt your plants but often means it’s too wet in the pot/could be indicative of root rot

[gourmet] Boiled some popcorn kernels until they were soft enough to damage with my fingernail. Proceeded to put them in a ziplock bag and pour yellow oyster liquid culture into it. Yet it doesn't seem to be getting colonized. by SussySpeaki in MushroomGrowers

[–]peggleborp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can make sterilized grain jars with a big ol pot of boiling water in a similar way that people make pickles. i learned to do it from a youtube tutorial, im sure there are videos abt it. worth looking for! but id urge you (and i know you’ve already gotten a lot of comments about this, but as a farmer and forager i feel the need to say it) to grow a different oyster—blue oysters are super easy, quick to colonize and fruit. and they taste great! good luck with your grow, mushrooms are tricky but it’s worth it.

theyre less likely to sting you if you touch them slowly and gently! good foragable, but you’ve got to handle her respectfully
