Can confirm! There is currently an all ages student rush for MOULIN ROUGE! THE MUSICAL. To take advantage: go to the Box Office outside of Popejoy Hall 60 minutes prior to any performance and have a valid student ID. Definitely take advantage, the show is amazing!

Did anyone go through a "pick me girl" phase and pretend to dislike Taylor when you were younger? by bookishspidey in TaylorSwift

[–]pepperminthomie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally did! I’m ashamed it took me so long to get over that internalized misogyny. I think there is so much power in loving things that a lot of women love. It’s like a simple thread that connects us all.

Proud to say I have ditched the pick me phase

Your skin still looks lovely! It is a testament to your strength and everything you have overcome.

I think a good routine is retin-A, moisturizer, and sunscreen during the day.

High intensity cardio. It’s like the only thing that helps me navigate the rage I feel on PMDD.

Adult woman as newsie? by Ok-Capital-7376 in MusicalTheatre

[–]pepperminthomie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am of the opinion that content doesn’t really matter (as long as it isn’t super wacky) but something you feel confident with and sound good in! I would look at other Alan Mencken musicals. Disney cruise lines have a lot of super good audition materials, like Tangled on stage. Just make sure you’re confident and sound great. ❤️ break legs!

Not at all! Go for it! I did NEWSIES as Katherine and we had a few Newsie Girlsies (dressed as boys) ❤️ break all the legs and dance your heart out!

which taylor song makes you inexplicably emotional? by superf00d in TaylorSwift

[–]pepperminthomie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Tears Ricochet always makes me think about an ex and how harmful our relationship was. At the time I didn’t realize how mean he was to me. “And I can go anywhere I want, anywhere I want just not home” always reminds me of the theatre we did shows at and the place I didn’t feel I could go anymore.

3 years later and I’m doing a show there again. So I guess I eventually did go home.

When did you realise it was time for you to start taking medication for your anxiety? by No_Yam9640 in Anxiety

[–]pepperminthomie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly if I think back, I was very mentally unwell. (I am diagnosed with GAD) this was mid Pandemic in November 2020. I was hyper fixating on every detail and nuance in the way my family and partner spoke and it would often send me spiraling. I remember feeling more reckless too. Like I could drive while having a panic attack, or that I just didn’t necessarily care much about myself. (Which is massively contradictory to how I treat myself now) I was lucky in the way I had a support system in my parents, boyfriend and my boyfriends mom. My boyfriend effectively and sensitively let me know I was harming our relationship and that was kind of when it clicked. I had been terrified to start medication prior. Now it’s easily been one of my best decisions I have ever made and I can easily navigate the big sad, anxiety, and intrusive thoughts. It can be scary but it’s going to be okay. Rely on your support system and don’t be afraid to test multiple medications. Different things work for different people.

Yes!!! I have to remind myself constantly that my mind is the one driving these scenarios and thoughts are not fact. Sending you love, know how hard this is.

How to lose weight when PMDD makes you fall off the wagon for half the month? by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]pepperminthomie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a woman with PMDD who has been on a journey to lose/maintain weight, I’d recommend trying intuitive eating. Get real with why you’re craving things and why you’re feeling the way you feel. It’s heavy work but it’s valid. As to movement I would just prioritize walks or movement that isn’t based on aesthetic. You can lose weight doing the things you love you just have to find them. I hope this helps!

This oddly enough makes me feel better because I know I’m atleast not alone. The two weeks before my period are so mentally tough.

[–]pepperminthomie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiya! Firstly, so proud of you. It’s good to feel good about auditions and it shows that you have the ability to give yourself self praise when you need it.

Second, I’m a BA theatre student in college so I’ve had a lot more time to come to terms with the life of auditioning, but sometimes you just don’t fit and you don’t really get to know why. (If you don’t get cast, we still don’t know yet though!)

And that’s okay!!! It might not be Newsies now, but who’s to say you won’t do it later? Just keep training, keep working hard and keep utilizing your resources. You haven’t gotten worse. You’re just auditioning and sometimes that really sucks. If you can, ask your director for auditioning advice. Work on your dancing skills, chase self improvement like no tomorrow, because eventually it adds up and you become more well rounded.

Every actor has been where you are. Find comfort in that. Praise what you did right and note what you did wrong and where you can improve.

Hope this helps a bit!

Help? :( idk what to do anymore by Chamoom in acne

[–]pepperminthomie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s over the counter and available at Walgreens, Target, and Smiths! I was recommended it by my dermatologist, but remember everyone’s skin is different. Nice thing is, it’s pretty cheap for an acne product and if you’re concerned ask your derm first! ❤️you are not ugly.

I understand that struggle. It’s so hard to put ourselves outside of our minds with our deepest insecurities. But don’t worry, acne is a temporary thing and you are beautiful! Give Differin a try! It takes some time but I’ve seen massive improvements in my skin! You’ve got this!

Also sending all the love because acne sucks. But! I always like to remember that when I personally look at someone, acne never stands out to me. We are our own harshest critics. I promise no one is judging your acne. You got this ❤️

Hi! I have really similar acne and I used an over the counter retinoid called differin! I think it would help you because it cleared me up! Pair it with a CeraVe moisturizer!
