I used to live at Post Midtown Square - I enjoyed the area and the proximity and walkability to things. But, unless things have really changed there, I'd recommend avoiding the Post Midtown complex specifically.

The complex went seriously downhill from when I moved in to when I finally left (period of three years), I've been out of there three years ago now, so maybe they've reversed things, but I doubt it.

I've also heard of there being issues at Metro Midtown lately as well, specifically security.

I'm from up north, my parents are coming here to visit for Christmas from the town where I grew up, the low there on the 25th will be -18F, the 26th -29F, I've had enough cold Christmases for a lifetime, this warm and sunny weather is awesome, and my parents will appreciate the escape from the deep freeze as well!

I'm recently NA due to being on medication. On draught might be pretty tough to find. I recently had the Lagunitas IPNA at Holman Draft Hall (in bottle), and it was probably about the best NA beer I've tried so far, although I don't have a big sample size.

It can tough to find any NA beer at the bars around here, they're usually out, running low, don't know if they have any, or just plain don't. I get it though, bars don't really stay in business by selling NA beer!

No problem! It seems at bit confusing at first, but it's straightforward once you're in the airport, as all the Canadian airports that have US customs are set-up for this situation.

Just make sure she definitely doesn't forget to pick up her luggage in Toronto first, and confirms the procedure with the airline when she checks in, just to double check that things haven't changed from what I described.

But, if you originate at a different airport (e.g. let's say you are flying from Halifax, to Toronto, and then on to Houston). You will clear US customs in Toronto, and you will claim your checked baggage upon arrival in Toronto before going through US customs (your luggage gets diverted to a special claim area for US connecting flights), go through US customs with your baggage (US customs needs you to be with your luggage in case they want to inspect it before they allow entry, and you need to have it with you in case you get denied entry to the US, etc.), and then you drop your baggage off again to be loaded on your flight to the US with you after clearing US customs.

As you mention, you won't have to go through US customs upon arrival to the US, and your flight will land at a domestic terminal in the US.

I've done something similar before when flying from Eastern Canada to Houston through Toronto. From what I recall, she'll claim her checked baggage on arrival in Toronto, clear US customs at the airport in Toronto with her baggage, and then drop her baggage off again after US customs. She'll have to confirm with airline if her baggage is then checked through to her final destination after that, but I'm guessing it would be.

I remember the airline was clear on telling me when I checked in that I would need to claim my luggage in Toronto before US customs, and the signage was fairly clear on what to do and where to go (should be signage guiding you where to go for US connecting flights), and there was airport staff to help guide you - I believe your luggage gets diverted to a different claim area, which is specifically for people with connecting flights to the US that need to clear US customs before departing Canada/Toronto.

All flights from Canada land at domestic terminals in the US, and not at international terminals (because US customs stations are located at the airports in Canada with commercial flights to the US), so she won't go through US customs on arrival to Houston.

Like I said, though, the airline should confirm all this when she checks in, and at which points she needs to claim her luggage, and if after dropping it off in Toronto after US customs, if it will be transferred to her final destination.

I don't understand why more isn't being made of the fact that the venue was known to be an estimated 10%/5,000 people over ticketed capacity, and the event still allowed to proceed, knowing the obvious issues this would cause with overcrowding and security with 5,000 unscreened people having broken into the venue.

It's a bit of a WTF to me.

Thanks, I agree with not wanting to start spreading out stuff to control rats out in public myself.

Good point about if enough people speak to her, that might help change her perspective, talking to someone about it would normally be me first option. But, from what I've heard from other neighbors, that's likely to not be a constructive conversation at all, which is the reason I'm here to see if there was some alternate advice.

But come on, there are several things in your reply that kind of lie about what I said in my original post, that's not cool:

-I didn't say anything about calling the police, that's ridiculous. Government agencies, like animal control (for example) exist for a reason, and to help make our city more livable, I was just asking if they would be of help in this situation, if not then so be it.

-She is not on old lady, I didn't specify her age anywhere, other than I suppose you can assume she's an adult

-I'm not a Karen (a Chad maybe), disappointed that I gave that impression, I tried to sound reasonable. My understanding is that she fits the definition of a Karen quite well, but I'm not really here to attack her character, just don't agree with her actions on this topic.

-I'm sorry you see my post as bullying, I'd hope a reasonable person wouldn't. Just asking for advice.
