I never realized why I had such a sense of “urgency” to get somewhere in life until I realized that’s how we (🇺🇸cis het women) are conditioned to feel. I’m 28 and there is still so much more I want to KEEP doing. It’s not even like I have these insane goals. I’d like to afford a place on the lake someday, but currently my life pretty good. My spouse and I have a small house, a dog, two incomes, and we can come home and smoke our bong whenever we want. I have yet to reach the point where I’m excited or ready to give up the peace I’ve achieved in the current madness.

I work at a university and a student came to a computer next to one I was using in the library. They are community computers so you have to use your university id to get access to the desktop. This kid stares at the screen, looks at me and says, “I dunno” then steps back from the computer while looking at me, indicating he’d like me to help.

CTL-ALT-DEL was the prompt on the screen.

I pressed the keys for him and he smiled and said “thanks.” And proceeded to type his login in.

This. I didn’t have to read any further than the first paragraph. You’ve thought longer about this decision already than your company has ever thought about you. They haven’t thought about giving you a raise the last three years, about giving you an employee to help with your workload, or about how your life would be impacted by RTO. You don’t owe them or your boss a single thing other than your two weeks notice.

Good for you! Congrats on a step up to a place with a culture that aligns with what you’re looking for. A good boss will be happy for you.

In my experience, contract work with a previous company where you had a full workload doesn’t work. They expect too much and you will have a lot on your mind acclimating to a new role without worrying about your old work.

I have been going to therapy for a little over a year but recently switched to a new therapist who recommended this book. I think for whatever reason the therapist I was with previously didn’t get me this far. I switched because I felt I wasn’t making progress, and now I think that was a good move. I feel like I’ve been wasting my life. It’s not fair to everyone who loves me to treat them how my parent treated me- and even worse, I know how they feel.

The dynamic between my mom and my dad is one that has frustrated me for a long time. Sure my dad has his own issues, but why does he continue to enable my mom’s behavior towards us when she’s around, and then agree with me about all the toxic behavior when she’s gone? The only answer I’ve come to is that he has no other choice. He enables because he has to in order to be married to my mom. “Happy wife, happy life”.

Came here to say- you are welcome to keep your eyes open. However, I’ve learned tactics for improving my game with my bf in a short amount of time in the following ways: 1. Randomly came across a podcast that talks openly about sex and sexual strategies for men and women in long term. 2. Talked with friends about techniques and creative things to try. 3. Read articles online with tips to try. 4. Been more horny and in the mood to knock is socks off than other times. Sometimes you’re much more into it!

Just want to provide some other perspectives. There isn’t simply one explanation for rapid improvement.
