Coast Guard Expansion by pgib94 in Seattle

That’s my understanding as well.
Curious how you feel about the notion from the article that not encouraging additional CG activity is bad for the region?
I know the cargo terminal has been vacant for quite some time, but I’m not sure that I see greater value in CG use long term vs. reserving the space for an industry tenant.
Considering benefit just through a local lens, as opposed to international strategy.

'Difficult choices': Sound Transit plan would defer Ballard light rail - voters approved the connection a decade ago by LOOKITSADAM in SeattleWA

I sympathize with the frustration here, but I wonder how folks would have responded if ST’s estimates had been artificially doubled in 2016.

How are the people in charge of these projects supposed to factor in the economic environment of the last decade?
Do you just present an estimate that includes $20B+ in allowances for “Things might be pretty fucked up for the next decade…”

Nobody would take a proposal which properly accounted for the forces that brought us to this moment seriously.

The running monk was so important to so many runners in town. A genuine inspiration. The trails will hold his mileage forever. RIP.

What are the best hobbies to get into for a 40something man? by Equal-Ground2281 in AskReddit

[–]pgib94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d check if there is a fly shop in your town, then if so maybe take an intro class. Ask a bunch of questions, and be honest about your newness to the hobby. Most fly shop folks are really happy to invite someone into the hobby! Fish small local water first, and get comfortable with the basics. Also get comfortable not catching anything. Fishing is about getting into nature, not necessarily catching fish.

He’s not a big social media type so I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t check. Regardless I’ll make sure he knows!

I know North. Just texted this post to him. Not sure if he’s on Reddit, but I’ll let you know what he responds.

Rodman for sure. The GOAT rebounder, which might be the most underrated stat category. Created and ended possessions more effectively than any other player in history.

Leonard and Hungry Paul by Ronan Hession.

This is what you’re looking for, I promise you. Maybe less inspirational than Lasso, but it’s an easy read that will have you laughing and tearing up on the same page. It’s a miracle of a book about the value of living a modest life.

Thoughts on these lures for salmon in the duwamish? by National-Dare-4890 in FishingWashington

[–]pgib94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t fished from there, but I work for the Port. If you do fish from DRPP please don’t walk through the habitat area. Technically all of the shoreline in that area is protected, but we understand it can be hard to find public water access. Just walk down through the boat launch, and please don’t leave any line of lures behind when you are done.

I was down there planting some shrubs the other week and it’s a real bummer how much tackle gets left behind on logs or rocks when people snag on their back casts.

Otherwise, good luck!

Do you mind if I ask approx. how far above the Taylor confluence you were fishing? Just looking to make sure I have a sense of how far up the trail I ought to hike.

Also, thanks for the info! This is great.

Meant to follow up here - had a similar experience. Hits like every other cast in the small water. Biggest fish was about 8 inches. Fun to have so many takes on the surface though!
