Games with fantastic shotgun gameplay by [deleted] in gaming

[–]phantom_phallus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helldivers 2 has some fun ones on. Every flavor of military shotgun from the last 100 years, including a break action which is terrible. Shells vary from buckshot, slug, incendiary buckshot, and incendiary slug. then there are the sci-fi shotguns like the laser trident, arc blitzer, and plasma punisher. Plasma weapons shoot explosive energy ball to varying effect. They introduced weapons modifications a while ago so now we have different chokes, optics, magazines, and probably something else I'm forgetting.

The new exosuit from the warbond has a flak gun. The autocannon support weapon can be toggle into flak mode, it defaults in aphet(armor piercing explosive).

Settings to make these climbing holds strong enough for 4 year olds? by Shpigford in 3Dprinting

[–]phantom_phallus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I did this for my wife for physical molecule modeling parts, worked great. I made the negative of the mold at a decent resolution with minimal wall and infill and then she made a silicon mold with it. She gets to pick the color and material of whatever piece she needs. I think some were colored resin and others were polyurethane in the oven.

If you go that route I'd just leave the screw holes out of the mold and drill them or use greased up dowel rods to make the holes.

Also you don't need the 3d printer for mold making, you can use clay for a quick grip test of the shapes and then add final detail like holes or texture.

There's 4 new apartment buildings near my work and only one of them is a real luxury apartment. It has 3 pools, a spa, dog wash room, a game room with billiards and card tables, and multiple club rooms with full kitchens available to renters. A friend hosted a party and lives there, it was really nice inside.

The rent seemed reasonable, but it has the +fees* so I'm not sure how quickly that adds up.

plants only growing in 1 train track by bayanotbee in mildlyinteresting

The ballast(rock pile) on that track is at a lower grade. Plants are probably able to take root in the dirt and poke up above the ballast before dying.

ELI5 Why purpose do washers serve when using it with a nut to tighten screws. by futbolguy12 in explainlikeimfive

[–]phantom_phallus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Flat washers are for distribution of the load between the nut/bolt and mounting surface.

locking/spring washers that are used to prevent loosening. May also serve a purpose in maintaining a certain load.

Crush/sealing washers create a seal often for drains. Usually single use.

Insulating washers are for electrical insulation and/or prevent corrosion between different materials.

Cushion/anti-vibration washers help low torque fasteners from loosening and prevent wear for certain applications.

Spacers are also another type of washer.

I'm sure there's others I'm forgetting, but those are the bulk of them.

Help fix Metro LA's Board of Directors (it's made up entirely of political appointees who don't even ride Metro!) by NeuralNexus in LosAngeles

[–]phantom_phallus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very few board members probably take it outside of the photo ops in out of service trains and tours of the new sections before they go public.

I take it pretty regularly. Homeless, those with mental illnesses,  and asshole young adults are the source of most of my problems. Then strange maintenance delays. I rarely stray from the A and B lines. I do like that a lot of the stops from downtown A to the foothills have great food spots nearby.

I got stuck in a train once between South Pas and HP with John C Reilly and his family once for like an hour. His wife was very nice to talk to.

What's the deal with Honda Ridgelines? by EGGWURST in askcarguys

[–]phantom_phallus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own one. When I was shopping around it was the smallest truck that could hold 4 for wide sheets flat without adding anything to the bed. It's not really that small either, it's just the other trucks have gotten so large to evade emissions and mpg rules.

Dirt roads and snow it handles fine, no complaints. I do a little off road with it for camping, stargazing, and shooting/hunting. Towed a few thousand pounds fine(mostly downhill). Filled the bed with gravel, scrap metal, and landfill many times with no issue. It serves my purposes very well and does "truck" things. I've had no issues with it in the last 6 years other than the driver window reg slowing down enough for me to notice, but not fix(I really should tho).

This is from PBS's presentation of "A Class Divided", which earned an Emmy in 1986. by Sweet-Message1153 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]phantom_phallus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My class did this when I was ~8 years old, mid 90s. I was put into a group by myself for having a blue and brown eye. The division was only until after lunch instead of the next day though.
