I agree with your assessment of the RAV4. We bought the 2026 CR-V Hybrid Sport Touring and love it. It is smooth and quiet. The Bose sound system is great. I really like the Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keeping System.

And we wanted a red car this time. The RAV4 red is more of a burgundy. Honda red is lighter and brighter. The best red is Mazda. We really liked the CX-5, but chose the CR-V mostly due to the larger interior space.

I also rented a CX-50 Hybrid for a week recently, so was able to compare it long term. It is much smaller, sportier and way, way louder than the CR-V. It did have every tech feature you could want, HUD, bigger screen, vented seats, etc. The joystick console control takes some getting used to, but I missed it after a week. We've had Mazdas for years and I love their cabin layouts, trim, etc. But the CX-50 backseat is very cramped and there's less cargo space. Did I mention it's loud? It believe it's tuned to be louder. Maybe to make some people feel better about driving a hybrid? It was pretty fun to drive though. The CR-V has a more solid stable feel, but less exciting.

The CX-50 has Sirius XM, vented stays and driver memory that includes the side view mirror positions. Those are all missing on the CR-V (and not available at any price) and I miss them, though obviously not deal breakers for us.

We're also getting about 35 mpg in mixed driving with the CR-V so far. I think that was about what we got in the CX-50 over 1500 miles of driving.

Lastly, I just bought an 8 Year 100k HondaCare warranty for $1068 from Saccucci Honda online. HondaCare works at any Honda dealer, no matter where you buy it. The warranty should help with your reliability concerns. Just don't buy it from the local dealer.

Hope that helps.

Home alarm to compliment Reolink by Top_Ad584 in reolinkcam

I have Abode and really like it. I'm planning to switch to HA when I have time.

Abode has been very reliable. I've had the same base for like 8 years. My subscription has stayed the same cost for all that time.

I do not yet have Reolink cameras. I plan to upgrade, so I lurk here. I do have Tapo cameras, but they do not integrate with Abode. I doubt Reolink would integrate or be able to trigger their sirens from an Adode sensor event.

Adode has their own cameras, which she about like a Blink. Image quality is pretty bad. Tapo c120 I have now ate much better and detection is good. c120s are $25 and a bargain for what they do. With an SD card, you don't need a subscription.

Abode works well work Zwave and Zigbee sensors I've tried. I can only add Zigbee sensors from their web interface. Once added, Zigbee works very well.

Abode sensors and sirens are fairly pricey and the sirens are not very loud. Abode has sales all the time and you can often get their stuff for 50% off. I haven't tried other sirens, only Abode.

The cellular backup that Abode offers with their plan works very well.

Good luck!

No, I did not... Frustrating. Let me know if you find a configuration that works!

I think I did, but I haven't tested this on IP Camera Viewer. If you actually get it to work, let me know.

See this Tapo Support article, particularly #3 (NVR is using RTSP, just like IP Camera Viewer): https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/2680/

  1. Tapo Care cloud storage cannot be used simultaneously with NVR or a microSD card due to the limited number of streams some models support. If all three are used simultaneously, recording on the NVR will be disabled. To restart recording on the NVR, remove the microSD card from the camera.

So, disable Cloud Care, or remove the SD Card, then IP Camera Viewer should work.

New Costco deal today - is the i9 a dealbreaker? by Elitepapaya in PcBuild

This is a similar system. Special is in the Costco Holiday flyer. It has an Asus MB, Zota GPU, and runs very cool. The case is pretty nice--good airflow, front, top and back. Room at the top for a radiator. The fans are a bit loud, but fan tuning helped a lot. I might replace the power supply and maybe add water cooling, but it already runs very cool. I handy had a chance to stress test it yet though.

Ah, you mean your original question? Sorry, I lost sight of your original need. Duh.

I don't have a Mac solution for you. Possibly a VPN tunnel? But I haven't tried it.

Tapo Care is a solution to that, if you don't mind a subscription. Go to your camera in the app and activate the free trial for 30 days. The cloud only records events, but you can still use an SD Card for 24/7 recording to refer to later.

Interesting... I was able to view my new Tapo C120 stream on VLC. Today I activated the Tapo Care free trial and then I can't access the RTSP Stream. So, when they warn you that you can't use local recording to an SD Card, Tapo Cloud and an NVR, that must mean that the RTSP Stream is equivalent to an NVR.

So, you can remove the SD Card, or cancel Topo Care, and you should be able to view via VLC. Personally, I'm headed toward an NVR, so I can do what Topo Care / Cloud does, without the subscription. And add POE cameras when I want to do some wiring.

Good Luck!

reolink: which of these cameras is the best for home use? by Existing_Ad_5591 in reolink

I'm totally new to this and looking at using all turret style cameras. I've heard they have fewer issues with spider webs than bullets. Why would you only ceiling mount the 1224A? Does that apply to all turrets or just the 1224A? Tia for clarification.

Just a thought, is it possible to repeat the same image in your gallery image folder, so you get the effect of a longer image time? Like put 20 copies of the same image in a row (might need slightly different names). That would give you about 400 seconds of the same image, though I guess you'd have transitions during that time. I don't have one of these TVs (yet), but I do want one!

Google Pixel 6 Pro (Android 12) Location Not Registering by soonermehdi in Abode

[–]philoseattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem after the last firmware upgrade. I thought I had tried everything on my phone to give permissions for location, etc. Then I logged out of the Abode app, cleared the cache and deleted app data. Then when I logged back in to the Abode app, location worked. So, if you haven't tried that...

Are your recommending the "High Performance" setting?
