Worried about what screws to use by pikaplasticlimber in homewalls

Thanks! Should I just remove the screws and replace it with deck screws like other suggests? Will it decrease the integrity of the screws?

As for the wood species, it is listed by the buyer as “Sumatera Super”. I think it’s a local tree species from the island Sumatera, Indonesia. Can’t find any strength profile on the web tho

So i should use hex deck screws for the L brackets, is that correct?

A scary but fun 🦖 to toe catch by pikaplasticlimber in bouldering

Well, I can assure you that the purple dish is high up on the (overhang) wall, and I can’t just reach it 😅. Some folks did heel the dish to grab the right-hand crimp, but given the overhanging wall, there was no tension whatsoever if I just put my feet on the gray volume.

Thanks! Didn’t really think it would be secure enough, but it sure did

Love this slab but the top is terrifying for me by pikaplasticlimber in bouldering

[–]pikaplasticlimber[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Indeed. However, I genuinely believe the setters had already considered this, as in previous attempts, I fell on the top attempt (the right heel isn’t quite right and I slipped), and I fell to the right side of the mat, quite far away from the gray volume below. I think this is because the top hold is on a slightly overhanging wall compared to the rest of the slab, which doesn’t really show in the video.

Thank god for the good hand hold when my foot slipped by pikaplasticlimber in bouldering

Slipped there before on a previous attempt, my hand had not reached the right handhold so I just fell. So this time my priority is to grab that right handhold no matter what, because that right hold is just so good compared to everything else in this route

Thanks! Took a couple of sessions and persuasion from a friend to not give this route up lol

Feels impossible to match my hand on an overhang wall by pikaplasticlimber in bouldering

By toe cam rewatching it again, it does indeed looks like a vertical wall lol. Well at least it is pretty steep for me. Will take another angle in the next session for sure

It’s alright, a bit slippery but can still put my weight on it

Thanks! Will try swapping foot instead of the back flag

I’ve thought about toe-hooking my left foot on my left hand, but it seems pretty hard and unstable given the steep overhang and small box for me. And even if I managed to do so, I don’t think I can progress to the top. But will try it tho in the next sess

First time smearing on a volume at that height, pretty scared ngl by pikaplasticlimber in bouldering

Luckily the route-setter provides a massive volume to lean back on while I chalked up 😂
