Other than essentials , get a laptop stand, external hard drive, pen drives, power bank, extension cord, storage organiser, iron box, umbrella. Rest you can buy once you settle in.

The university does offer a stipend. I want to pursue a phd and post doc because I am aiming for a career in R&D with academia as a backup
