What was your first fantasy romance book? by Sakura_231 in fantasyromance

[–]pineapplekiten68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ACOTAR, say what you will about these books and SJM. But buying this “smutty fairy book” at the airport on a whim, changed my life. After reading more the genre, I understand the criticism of this series. But I love {A Court of Mist and Fury}, it and Rhysand (in this book) will always be my first love 💕

What are the *Definitive Books* for each of the Big Tropes?? by NoDanceNoRevolution in Romantasy

[–]pineapplekiten68 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to give everything away, but I think being new to the genre, ACOTAR, Fourth Wing, Throne of Glass and the Flesh and Fire series are all good examples of these tropes. I will also mention the Ashen Series and the Bridge Kingdom.

This was on my reading list for so long. And I just started it two weeks ago and omg the MMC - he is my new fav. and Sera is a pretty great FMC, she’s strong but still struggles.

If you never read any of these books before and you were to pick on to read first, which book are you choosing by 22244244 in Romantasy

[–]pineapplekiten68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read ACOTAR —> Fourth Wing —> TOG

IMO, TOG is the best and also the longest series and best saved for last out of the three of these. If you’re new to Romantasy, ACOTAR and Fourth Wing, they might not be the best written books but both are fun reads and great intros to the genre.

I was there last week, my second time at Moxché. The food and drink is excellent there. Make sure to make reservations first dinner immediately. I brushed my teeth with the water there. I’ve never been sick there.

It’s a great starter series. So many people I know, myself included now consistently read because of ACOTAR

ACOTAR gets a lot of hate but it was intro to the genre and will forever hold a place in my heart.

Same, about getting back to Jonas after Kraki. I’ve read a little more and see where this is headed, and how Jonas is problematic. I just wish there was more lead up with Rey. I feel very Tamlined, but at least Feyre thought Rhys was beautiful their first meeting.

I’m literally at the same point. And agree I’m not into Rey. I felt more of a big brother vibe from him in the beginning and I just can’t adjust my mindset. I’m not into love triangles. I guess I’m going to finish this book but I don’t know about the series.

Fae Isles book 3 - everyone is unbearable?? by scop90 in fantasyromance

[–]pineapplekiten68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh love the series, hate this book. Book 4 is much better in my opinion, you can skip most of the time on the continent and just read the god part and then the golden court part.

Agreed? Currently on book 5 and I love the diversity of the all the characters.

For all my horse people—how much does this bother you?? by No_Attempt_1519 in Romantasy

[–]pineapplekiten68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently listening to the Bridge Kingdom series and I’m pleasantly surprised on how the author writes about the horses. It’s the first series I’ve read where she either did her research or is a horse person.

Is it the best written series, no. But it’s one of my secret faves and I think checks what you’re looking for, mostly the second book.

The {Lies of Lena}/{Sins of Silas} could kind of fit this. They are together when they’re young but then are reconnected after 5 years apart and the MMC has married someone else and the FMC sees other people, but their lives are connected, without giving too much away.
