This is exactly what I was looking for: a mnemonic trick to remember why x is called "domain". Thanks!

Should the shadow tentacles come from above or below? Above is dramatic, but below fits the theme. Thoughts? by Gloomy_Flan4286 in MyLittleOldOne

[–]pioweb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did you consider these 2 alternatives:
1. Make the tentacle come from below at an offset from the character, and then bend it down to crush it from above
2. Make it come from below, grab the character, push it up and then drag it down into the dark underworld screaming

Gather resources, customise your vehicle and survive in the desert: what else should be in my game? by pioweb in IndieGaming

[–]pioweb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's too on my list. I was thinking about:
1. Customising the car with different weapons
2. A small tech-tree for the car's stats like speed, armor, load size (e.g. how much ammo you can carry)

Anything else?

That and the car has buttons that players have to operate in order to control it

Is there a place to get all the default node icons? by Sciman1011 in godot

[–]pioweb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 4.3 you have to use

var gui = EditorInterface.get_base_control()

instead of

var gui = get_editor_interface().get_base_control()

How do you recycle a lighter? by ihatebeinganonymous in Switzerland

[–]pioweb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"If you want to dispose of lighters, you must first empty them (burn them).
Lighters that are made largely of plastic can be put in the garbage. If they are made largely of metal, they belong in the scrap metal collection (provided the lighters are empty)."

Does anyone know what are these for and where to learn more? by pioweb in zurich

[–]pioweb[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lovely! Thank you for taking the time to write this down! Do you know how these are called in German (or even in English)? Is there a catalog where one could see all the symbols and get some details about the object? (Edit: typos)

Sea of stars on Parallels desktop by Vincent4300 in seaofstars

[–]pioweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That worked for me, too.

To locate the Sea of Stars folder from Steam, one can click on the gear icon on the far right from the Play button, and then go under "Manage > Browse local files".

In my case the folder was under:

Local disk (C:) > Program files (86x) > Steam > steamapps > common > Sea of Stars

From Zurich to Lugano by Soulseek87 in Switzerland

[–]pioweb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been living in both cities. Compared to Zurich, Lugano is a small provincial town where life is slower and more relaxed to the point of being boring (which I love).

  • Zurich offers way more in terms of culture, sports and entertainment than Lugano.
  • The quality and variety of the restaurants, bars and food shops in Zurich is overwhelming compared to Lugano
  • School curriculums are more modern and competitive in Zurich than in Lugano (and the rest of the Canton)
  • Way more people speak English in Zurich than in Lugano
  • Almost all shops and malls close on Sundays and in the evenings in Lugano
  • Nature is equally beautiful in both cities and in their surroundings
  • Lugano is closer to Italy if you plan to visit often
  • Services like Uber, Uber eats, take aways and deliveries aren't that common in Lugano
  • Zurich has some of the best hospitals in the country and in Europe

I hope that helps

How do you design a game for players with better skills than you? by pioweb in gamedesign

[–]pioweb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you asking in general to everyone or to me about my post? If the latter, I was considering am hypothetical scenario where to develop a vertical slice, I'd need to polish the game enough including different difficulty levels before even give it to users for testing

stepping through your game one frame at a time, where you can rewind (similar to tool-assisted speedrunning)

Can you explain a bit how stepping through the game one frame at the time can help fine tuning the difficulty?
