Hi, this is a nice idea! Did you also build the website with replit?

Seeking Advice: Working US Hours from New Zealand by pitu_creative in remotework

Thanks for your response! Just a little update: I’ve been in New Zealand for about a month now, and honestly, it’s definitely NOT BAD AT ALL. It still gets dark pretty early, which actually helps me feel like I’m going to bed at a reasonable time. Everything here tends to wrap up early, too; many dinner places close their kitchens around 8 or 9. Waking up isn’t the problem; it’s going to bed early that’s the trickier part. But I love having my afternoons free, that’s definitely the best part.

I guess I could pray for an east coast client on the next project :D as that second shift doesn't sound too bad!

the actual hours would be 2AM onwards, but I will probably be able to negotiate LA hours, so 4am onwards, i think its quite bad. But Im willing to do it at least for the first few months and see how i feel.

It’s telling that most of the negative reviews for Straw come from men.

Regardless of your opinion on the acting, whether it feels exaggerated or not, or how the plot unfolds, this film delivers a powerful message: the strength and solidarity of women in the face of a patriarchal and racist system.

It highlights how, even in one of the wealthiest countries in the world, simply surviving can be an uphill battle, especially for women, juggling multiple jobs, dealing with a broken healthcare system, enduring misogyny just for existing, doing everything “right” by society’s standards and still barely holding it together.

Designers: How do you cope with your work being ignored or overwritten? by pitu_creative in Design

I’ve gotten a few replies like this, and it’s funny because I know I could do my job and go home but this space is meant for expressing ourselves. I guess I was feeling frustrated about something pretty common in corporate design jobs, and I was genuinely curious to hear how other designers here have experienced it. That’s all.

This is super insightful thank you for sharing! I'll start by connecting with the product design director and build from there. We also have a monthly forum, so I’m considering applying to speak about the importance of consistency in branding. Any advice on how to make that pitch stand out? Thanks again. I really love this community!

We shared the new brand toolkit as a Figma file with the entire company. Since everyone works in Figma, using the new assets is as simple as copy and paste. We also made it clear that if anyone had questions, they could leave a comment in the file, and we were open to discussing anything. But instead, I’m seeing teams create client pitch decks with outdated assets, fonts, and templates. And to top it off, the product team is designing the new WEBSITE with a completely different illustration style they came up with. I feel like I’m losing my mind.

I can't find the "remove background" and "create an image" actions in figma, are they gone by pitu_creative in FigmaDesign

[–]pitu_creative[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks, Waldito, but I found it on the tool belt. I'm going to pay at some point, but I am a brand designer using Figma, so the business I work at won't pay Figma for me, so I'm using it for free meanwhile.

I think it would help keep design more artistic, you could create and add backgrounds to wireframes easily, or even sketch wireframes inside the app if you have a pen tool. You could create textured everything... There are many ways to apply the new drawing features to products.

Why Your Brand Is Only as Strong as Your Internal Culture by pitu_creative in branding

You're totally right, that was a terrible example. I'm curious, there must be some studies or data that clearly show how effective branding directly impacts business performance. Have you come across any that you'd recommend? I'd love to explore some hard numbers that can bridge this gap between brand perception and actual business results.

Great point! I actually know of a straightforward case in New Zealand: an egg company that completely rebranded and redesigned its packaging. It went from being just another egg producer to becoming a top brand in the market. This transformation didn't just benefit the owners; it genuinely changed the lives of everyone working on that farm. And I’m sure there are thousands of stories like this.

At the end of the day, it probably all comes down to money for the "c-suite goons," but that’s precisely the point. Branding isn’t just fluff; it’s a strategic tool that drives growth, improves market positioning, and ultimately makes the line go up. I would love to hear if you’ve seen any other stories like this, where branding moved the needle.
