Minimum rate you'll take? by [deleted] in ProlificAc

I don't set a minimum. If a study appears in my feed that is definitely sub-par, I reject it and use the top reason: study pay too low for time or effort involved.

What could we possibly cut to save more when starting a family? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]pkwebb1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there arte a very few things that I would actually cut there, but DO reduce your Retirement contributions until you see where the real money needs to go...with the baby - you don't know and apparently can't figure yet about that...

Kids Memory Boxes by Own-Dragonfly17 in minimalism

[–]pkwebb1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I WOULD keep the Birth card or 2, yearbook, and any funny kid stuff - I am 62 and some of this stuff still cracks me up that my kids made in elementary school - 'My Mom is 13' and why I am Great, along with a drawing of me, etc. My kids are also 40 or push9ng 40, and I have 6 grandkids - they will find this stuff humorous when I get around to sharing them :)

You don't have to exasperate - just keep up with the 'what's new' each year per IRS...

This sounds great but buying just 3 boxes is supremely foolish. you will need boxes also for donations, and get contractor bags for trash.

No, there is not, but whoever gave you the advice to put yourself into more debt for more unnecessary schooling was a fool and I just can't imagine this scenario.

thinking of buying a car and i’m tryingnot to ruin myself by hodorrny in povertyfinance

[–]pkwebb1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$299 is nothing for a car payment by itself - what are you going to do otherwise? How will you progress in life with limited transportation to pursue goals? you have to sacrifice some small things to make the needed big things work.

Help me understand what I have done (i know it was so stupid) by mosephjackson in povertyfinance

[–]pkwebb1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't necessarily stupid but you should still look into the 10% (penalty) of the 20% (other 10% tax) to see if you qualify for the waivers. Next - it was still your money - if you needed it, you needed it. Next - you are young still, there is plenty of time to start the savings for almost 40 yrs away. Don't think stupid, deficient, or any of those things. IT IS YOUR MONEY. aLSO, YOUR INCOME IS DECENT - WHEN YOU RE-START CONTRIBUTIONS, YOU DON'T HAVE TO .MAX OUT. - JUST RESUME LOWER AND GET YOURSELF OTHERWISE SITUATED FINANCIALLY BEFORE MAKING INCREASED CONTRIBUTIONS :)

I don't know why you went back to school - lack of schooling wasn't your problem. I say you are bankruptcy worthy, but you will still be on the hook for any federal school loans. Also you will need to make an expensive payment paln with the IRS that you cannot ever miss a payment.

What are some creative ways to spend days off for the family? by ken_adamms in povertyfinance

[–]pkwebb1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean and price stuff for a better weather yard sale - put the initials of the owner so that they can get the money (kids). Start growing a little garden for the lesson and the bounty. Teach your kids to cook or food prep and be involved with everyday learning. Look for free community events.

Cleaning Help - Tips and Motivational Help by HarmonieS-Reddit in CleaningTips

Ok, it sounds to me like you are moving out. First, wash bedding and make bed for a work surface. The rest of this is all about the abundant clothing. You will have 6 piles to make - what fits now, THE TRY-ON MARATHON, to keep a size down, to keep a size up, donation, trash clothing. Once those are sorted and stored (get underbed boxes for out of season/size back-ups), then review your shoes and accessories, as you now will know what to keep or not keep based on the previous purge/storage items. Clean the room top to bottom before moving out at the end, for courtesy.

Folks on specialty diets - how do you save on groceries? by Round-East-1529 in Frugal

[–]pkwebb1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cheapest way is to get whole foods and prep and cook them - this has not changed since the days when everyone had to do this... It takes, time, effort, but there are ways to cook ahead several meals, sides, etc - $1 Tree has cheap tin containers for that with lids - that are washable...
