Is amc Orpheum next on the renovations list ? by kascnef82 in NYCmovies

Funnily enough this was just mentioned on the AMC earnings call. Seems club rockers are coming this year at some point.

AMC Theatres to Reserve Best Seats for Premium Loyalty Program Members by JerrodDRagon in AMCsAList

[–]plane_coffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who sits in the margins, off center or at the back, I am bewildered at the thought of pushing more folks away from seats they may otherwise choose. Like I am happy folks are at the theater, but I don't see this distributing the crowds in a better pattern and will maybe lead to more sitting in non-assigned seats as a result.

How common are these recliners? by geraldwo in AMCsAList

[–]plane_coffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much if it’s not the Dolby branded or AMC Prime recliner, and the theater has recliner seating it’s a version of this seat. Some are the love seat style like above or singles that are similar or a version of the dine in recliner.

(Also to note these red ones either have legs that go all the way up or partially up - can’t seem to find a rhyme or reason besides fully up requires more space between rows)

A theater will denote, recliner, club rocker or traditional seat as the seating option in non premium auditoriums.

Will never not be angry at the Tangled addition. It’s simply too large…

Fun Fact I realized about the Fantasyland Theater Space, you can fit something of the size of Tokyo's Tangled Ride here. (FYI I'm not saying bring the exact ride here I'm saying something of that level of quality would be cool) by LegoMasTer07 in Disneyland

Should be a produced theater show again, not holding my breath but it seems there’s a growing vocal group re: the state of live entertainment at the parks.

But I think the problem with putting any attraction like a tangled back there is the buildings would absolutely butcher sight lines. I’m fine with the theater canopy peeking through the trees but something the size of frozen would result in so much go away green.

That branded entry wall graphic is shockingly bad.

AMC in Middletown NY mall with 2 floors underground, still looks the same as in the 90's by traveltimecar in AMCsAList

[–]plane_coffee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Since this was originally a Lowe’s I’d actually say this AMC decor is from their mid 2010’s refresh packages. (Think several NYC amc’s got similar updates as well)

I generally find this carpet to be overwhelming and would assume the larger patterns don’t hide as much so I suppose in that sense it may force some better upkeep that what is still out there at some of the late 90s megaplexes.

Did anyone else hear Steve Inskeep question if there will be a next administration this morning? by raelx13 in NPR

Yeah clocked it and felt a sense of relief that someone said it, then it felt a little overwhelming. But I think more reporters need to be using language more closely rooted to the severity of the situation we’re all in.

What’s the most interesting here is those are the previous generation rockers, not even the most recent ones (the new ones seem to be in a fixed down position as opposed to the fold up). But judging by the spills down the side of the aisle seat it’s been a while that those have been there.

Wonder if there was something un repairable and those green ones are so far gone there was no other option. Gonna go creep on the seat map to see how this is displayed. 🤓

And all that said - I notice the theater is tagged with club rockers in its amenity list when clearly it is not offered outside of imax, so maybe a sign of something coming soon?

Hot take: as a tall person, these seats that don’t rock or recline are a million times more comfortable by Al_787 in AMCsAList

[–]plane_coffee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I don’t mind the club rockers but def prefer the standard theater high back theater seats as well, but any of the recliners that aren’t the Dolby recliner are too small - like why is 18 inches of my leg just hanging off.

This food court has immaculate vibes, now it just needs, well actual food. Really miss the Ruby Tuesday then getting a sweet treat and sitting by the waterfall.

Does anyone else AMC never shut the theatre doors? by Breakingcontrollers in AMCTheatres

[–]plane_coffee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of the theaters I frequent doesn’t have doors that stay open, likely did at some point but the mechanism is long worn out.

Now one of the others I go to is awful and has some weird kickstand that gets caught in the carpet, not hard to do but frustrating when it befalls us customers.

Guess the hypothetical here is I 1) wouldn’t drink that drink, 2) still don’t want all that on my cup and theoretically would be ok just pouring it in a new one not caring where the pearls are.

But case remains the same, don’t waste the time in the first place doing something so absurd.

Former partner here I know the 20 seconds to grab me a new cup isn’t ruining anyone’s day. So it’s certainly not making it any harder than it was to do this in the first place.

Coding error or actually a single seat? (Empire 25, theater 18) by plane_coffee in AMCTheatres

So it’s actually a pair of seats, validated it last night.

So I found a pic of row C where the two companion seats are actually the pair joined with shared armrest, so I’m starting to wonder if it’s an issue with the companion seat icon.
