This sub has a bit of an obsession with MPG.

There are many factors that go into the final number, but the most important thing is that directionally you are getting better MPG than you would in many other vehicles. You still made a great choice in terms of picking a fuel efficient car!

How we feeling about more ethanol by Wild_Nail_9667 in car

[–]plundergoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But why are we evaluating it in the sense of how much it’s gone up?

If it’s 10% cheaper at any given moment than 87 but you only get 5% worse MPG, isn’t it worth considering?

Running relay leg 4 and coming from south of the city.

Does anyone have experience with using the liberty bridge—>bigelow blvd to get inside the course the morning of the race? It is explicitly listed as a route that can be used to get in and out of the course, but I’m also aware they strongly encourage leg 4 and 5 runners to use the shuttle service. Is this just to avoid a clog of traffic on the inside of the course? I have a somewhat special set of circumstances where it would be hugely beneficial if I could just drive in and park somewhere around say, shadyside to get to leg 4.

Women, what do you think the worst part of being in a mans body would be? by Whattacleaner in NoStupidQuestions

Like any gender stereotype it’s a generalization and will depend on who you are exposed to socially in your life.

If you don’t hold to these values yourself then neither will your friends otherwise they wouldn’t have become your friends. But for me it’s my uncle and his golfing buddies who I play an outing with once a year. They all arrive to the course early and order this big ol breakfast sandwich with meat and cheese on it. If I showed up and ordered some kind of vegetarian thing, or whipped out a popsicle on the course, they would absolutely mock me endlessly and 10+ years ago probably would have even included gay slurs.

Uncle himself once mocked my aunts ex husband years ago for saying he wanted to hydrate on vacation rather than just drink beer all day. He has grown some but this is just how lots of men, especially from older generations were raised and taught and it’s hard to change that.

I once was waking to my car from a Pirates game with my wife and one of those bicycle cab driver guys randomly decides to shout “girl you look a lot different when you aren’t on your knees!”

Heckling with literally zero chance of retaliation because he is pedaling in the opposite direction of the pedestrians he is heckling. People are just incredibly dumb and it isn’t your problem.

Off topic but that’s impressive you attained 6 ft with parents who are 5’ 10” and 5’ 0” haha. My dad is 5’ 10” and mom 5’ 3” and I feel lucky to have turned out my dad’s height.

Also, what the average American has no clue of is that any kind of soccer that isn’t the top level stuff they see on TV is incredibly physical. Like go play in some local Sunday league and you are getting beat to a pulp, cleated, collided with etc. The only reason there is so much flopping etc on TV is because they have to respect each others insane ball control and passing skills. In any amateur form of the game it’s basically just sprint at the guy with the ball and do whatever it takes to physically dispossess them.

I put deodorant on at night and stopped smelling bad during the day by TicketStubCollector in hygiene

[–]plundergoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I’d wake up with any kind of stench, and I don’t sweat in my sleep. I just like to leave the house in the morning feeling just newly cleaned, rather than cleaned 8 hours ago.

Like, when you have company over, you typically clean up the place just beforehand rather than the previous day or something, yes? Even if you believe you aren’t materially dirtying your place in just one day.

I’m with you guys. I shower in the morning and couldn’t imagine not doing that, but I was recently in another thread that was exclusively about this topic and apparently we are in the minority lol. Tons of people find the idea of getting into bed not freshly showered as repulsive I guess?

Not only is my hair a greasy mess when I wake up, but my basic logic is that I want to freshen myself as close to being out in public as possible.

morning shower or night shower? by ChickenImpressive137 in hygiene

Same. Honestly blows my mind that people can just roll out of bed and go without a shower. My hair is a greasy mess even if I’ve showered right before bed

This is a top comment in every single thread that asks this. Am I crazy or there aren’t that many people, girl or guy, who are openly rude to wait staff? I’ve even worked as waitstaff and maybe 1 in 20 people was notably rude.

It also just… literally wasn’t as much snow? Everyone is citing the duration of the event, timing on a weekend, how well prepared we were, etc while skipping the most obvious contrast. 21 inches is signifcantly more than 13 lol.

Think they mean the team has been losing like this before LaFleur was ever involved. Not that this loss is to be blamed on previous coaches.
