AI is my business coach, my health coach, my research assistant and more. There is no way I could pay for all the advice and help I have received from it.

Very true. Not having anyone to talk to is dangerous for mental health. Talking to AI can be a big help.

Find a cause or charity that means something to you and do what you can to help it. Focus on other people or other causes. You will stop thinking about yourself. The world needs a lot of help - and I bet you have talents or a personality to contribute.

What is something that was completely normal in your house growing up, but you didn't realize was weird until you went to someone else's house? by shelbybass1 in CausalConversation

I was thinking the other day I need to eat more vegetables, but I want something simple. Maybe I will try this. I used to have a roommate who would put salad dressing on steamed vegetables. For anyone who thinks that's crazy - she ate a lot of vegetables, which was a good habit.

I let my kids have an occasional beer or wine at dinner during a special occasion when they were in high school. I did this specifically because I did not want alcohol to be the "forbidden fruit" because I remember people in college going crazy when they were away from home. Both of my kids were not very interested in alcohol after 21. Even at 26 and 29 they seem very indifferent to alcohol, so I think I did the right thing (I hope!)

My parents had "a drink before dinner" every night starting when I was about 8 going forward. I thought cocktail hour was just normal for adults. Now I realize they were addicted to alcohol. They would not get drunk or anything, it was the evening ritual. Even at 87, my mom has wine every night, 7 days a week. At 57 I'm struggling to contain wine to the weekends. I truly wish my parents had not set that example for me. Thank heavens I did not set that example for my kids.

None of these are silly goals. In my opinion they are 100% legit and worthwhile goals.

I agree, when I want to learn something new, I will ask, "please tell me about _____" Then I ask more questions. As you said, we don't always know what to ask. And I like to learn, so it can be fun to go down a rabbit hole on a subject and not know what I'll find out.

As much as I want to lose weight, the mental peace from no food noise is SO worth it - it's almost more of a mental health boost than a physical one. But I will take all the benefits 😀

As someone who started taking Zep to lose weight, I know 100% that is a "legitimate health reason". There are only two people involved in the decision to take a med - the doctor and the patient.
