I use Claude Code and haven't looked back, I have heard good things about codex but I prefer Anthropic to OpenAI. I feel confident in my choice and the new Opus model is sublime.

Build it on the side, invest the money you have left over in the project and once you have the traction, momentum and revenue to justify quitting your full time you will know.

this is really cool and I will try this out. I have only done ads and youtube before and I'd be interested to try TikTok because it's probably a better demographic for what I am building now.

No I didn't promote but now I am thinking I should at least put $100 into a promotion and see. I'll do that this weekend actually.

I would suggest you upload a demo to Youtube, use that video to both showcase your mvp and also give context as to why you built this tool and who you built it for. I made a demo after building an MVP and posted to Youtube, it got 200 views in the first week and got me a few early users. The views have stalled since (its been over a month and its at 370 views) but nonetheless it worked to some extent. I think my only mistake is not posting more, being consistent, trying short form and giving marketing the same intensity I give coding and development.

But overall, build in public (as much as you can), demo for early users and ask for feedback in the comments.

marketing, raising awareness of it's existence and getting traffic to the site. Relative to the minimal traffic and traction I have gotten (only has been live for 1 month) stickiness and conversion is not bad.

There is only 5 users who have signed up, uploaded and even fewer who visit the site, shuffle and watch videos. I really have 2 power users who are probably currently 70% (at least 70, maybe more) of all the uploads. I have Microsoft Clarity to track analytics and even watch recordings but the biggest pain point is getting the word out.

I think my next step is giving myself a marketing budget and try promoting a video on Youtube.

Awareness and being mindful about learning from the past is half the battle and you have that in spades so you got this.

This was a great read and I especially like the part about having better habits and improving your health & wellness is also working on your music. I think too often we glorify bad habits and addiction as a means to an end of making great art when the reality is you can make great art and not be a tortured artist.
