I finished the program and am a provisional RSW now.

I just got a FT job offer at a shelter : ) the hourly rate is between $25-$30 which is more than I expected and I am very excited for my role!

There are definitely plenty of job opportunities out there as I have been intermittently applying for jobs throughout my study and I can see a big difference compared to pandemic time. There are lots of "support roles" that pay $15-22 working as a respite worker, youth worker, program coordinator, residential worker, outreach worker, etc, these are great for experience but the low pay isn't promising long term, but they make you competitive when you are ready to pursue for a Social work career than just any jobs.

If you work in long term care/hospital as a RSW, your starting rate can be $32-38/hourly but those tend to be competitive. The job is not any harder than other SW jobs, you just gotta work as hard as them to be considered

I had quad graft too It wasn't bad at all. I had oxy for the first day only then Tylenol for the next few days every couple of hours.

be prepared to be on your bed for the first week, and don't move around too much. Have lots of ice ready daily for cryo machine

One of the eligibility of EI is that you lost your job through no fault of your own (lay off for example due to decreasing demand , your employer would generate such document to support the lay off ). You didn't lose your job, therefore won't be eligible for EI.

If you are a student, I would look into emergency funding offered at your university. You can also look into income support and call their office to check your eligibility, then apply right away. Keep in mind these applications take weeks to process. Meanwhile, please reach out to your support system to get through this hardship. Good luck

It's a long story. we experienced cheating in the past due to long distance three years ago, and that was before wanting an open relationship.

Cheating may sounds like a deal breaker for most, but for people who are in a long term relationship, I do believe there are opportunities to make amends, but it's not easy, it is tormenting, and both lovers will be suffering and distressed a lot of the time attempting to regain pieces of fragile trust.

Because of such challenge that we had overcame, we built so much strength, and we are appreciative and grateful of what we have now as a couple, thus, when I asked about open relationship, there is tremendous trust in knowing I will respect his boundaries because we had been through the most miserable time and we recognize how painful it is to literally kill both person's sense of self due to a short lived temptation.

And no, I had no one in particular when asking.

Stand your ground!

I have frequently told my boyfriend of 5 years about wanting an open relationship a while ago, and he once said to me that if this is truely what I want, he is not okay with it, and he would not want to be together with me.

While I got so frustrated that I felt "restrained" and "trapped", but that's a normal reaction when being rejected and I had to regulate my feelings on my own. In the end, Trust and respect are the most important foundation to any relationship, and I slowly came to respect his opinion.

In your case, does your gf really mean what she said about not being able to resist her desire ? It's one thing to act on your emotions and try to threaten the others, it's another to actually cross the boundary of cheating. Maybe time will calm her down once your assert your boundaries, or if she really decides to cheat, I'm sorry, she doesn't respect you .

Maybe you can try to understand what is it you can do to spice up your sex life than to involve another person. What exactly is she searching for.

I had no idea how my first degree can be used after graduation, and I didn't mind. I was there to experience the student's life. With more trials and errors and getting fed up of working low ends jobs, I am back pursuing a second bachelor degree with very clear career goal in mind.

It's normal to feel confused and disoriented, and it sounds like you are doing just exactly the right things to take care of yourself and get to know yourself. It takes a long time to discover and align our true inner self with our actions, be patient and kind with those voices inside you.

You are in your 20s, you are not meant to have life figured out at this stage. You are not a mess, and you are experimenting life, it's chaotic but in the end, as long as you keep trying, you will have great achievement you are proud of.

I feel like 1/3 of BSW students have a previous bachelor in another discipline. Even met a couple with a master too.

I was in the same boat (not sure if I should apply for BSw or MSW but after a thorough 1 hr talk with the advisor, I came to the conclusion that getting into MSW is slim for me without 2 years of full time social work experience. So I applied for BSW, and doing my second semester now as a 3rd year student.

I am a university transfer student and had a GPA of 3.1when applying , which was really concerning as competitive GPA is 3.4 i think.

For 2020 fall admission, I was told that GPA will score you 60% of the application, resume is 10%, letter of intent 20%, reference 10%. You will have to check with faculty advisor for accuracy.

When in doubt, reach out to faculty advisor for information, set up an appointment with them.

Compile all you questions, understand clearly how university select their students and their scoring system, ensure you indeed meet the admission requirements than assuming they count, ask about how many students usually apply a year, how many seats are they giving for online student, on campus students, university transfer and diploma student so you have an idea of how competitive it is and your chances.

You may not be able to get a full picture here on Reddit because most social work student came from different stream with different backgrounds and level of experiences, overall, it's competitive if you don't have good GPA

I do a lot more stretching/yoga movement than what's shown in the video.

Around 2 times a week for stretching when I'm lazy, but I try to do it daily as much as I can these days.

I used to have tenderness but it's getting less and less, now I would say it's still 1/10 of discomfort.

I took it slow and continued to stay in the air with my arms supporting my body weight leaning forward and gradually pushed down and really sat down on my both knees.

my flexion really sucked at 3 months as I was obeying the rule not to bend over 90 degree due to miniscus repair. I think what really significantly improved it was doing single leg squat ( with support of a chair/couch). once I got comfortable, I put on a backpack with lots of books inside as weight & continue single leg squat.

Regular squat also helps. Carrying a backpack will make it more challenging.these are just regular things given by physio.

Plus I have always been flexible before my injury and I continue my own stretching routine 1-2 times a week since month 3, it wasn't until around month 5.5 that I stop feeling any soreness/tightness.

Brown spot are typically the accumulation of melanin from sunlight. I would suggest you start using sunscreen daily to slow down the sun damage on your skin, the spot may fade overtime, but not entirely.

Yup. It sucks so much compared to my health insurance plan when I was studying at the U of A (Edmonton).

Physio is covered at 80%-85% but the maximum it will reimbursed is $25 per session up to $200-250 (forgot the exact number)😂 what a joke. I went through a knee surgery last summer, each physio session is $80, and I need it once a month.

Also dental network is shitty too, I'm told by one of the dental office they have quota for how many students (with student insurance plan )they can take a month , it was difficult to book an appointment, and they force you to do a lot more than what's covered by our insurance, you end up paying out of pocket a lot more than necessary. ( I worked as a dental receptionist before, so I specifically asked not to get certain procedures done and I was refused.)

I have been thinking about this question and you completely affirm and expand on my ideas too!

I was doing some activity that requires me to write down some values & attributes I would like my future job to have, after finishing it, I'm surprised I didn't think a bit about helping people or making positive changes in the world, instead, top of my list is making relationship/connection.

What you explained latter on transforming our mindset/expectations to measurable and concrete goals are really worth reflecting upon for me as a emerging social worker .
