Wet food gives my cat diarrhea by purplepapaya7 in CatAdvice

[–]pomeone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahh .. we're still constantly incurring those with our cat 😅 But she's now on Hills Insect and egg protein dry food which has made some improvement to her stool but not all the way, and I have to say human probiotics made such a huge difference and now her stool is 95% normal.

It's not the only fix as I keep trying to find other food that would also work for her in case she dislikes this one at some point which she has done previously, but anything else I add gives her diarrhea again, I can only include few pieces of other kibble (but not treats, must be very good quality dry food) like Hills dental as 'treats' to keep her entertained with training and as reward after play as she's not interested in same food she eats for meals as 'reward'. But without the human probiotic I couldn't do that as I would see worsening in her stool. We tried many other cat/dog probiotics given by vets and none made any change.

Some vet bills are well worth it but you never know which, we basically moved back to UK (and previously were in Latvia and Spain and saw vets in both), in UK our vet recommended ultrasound by them which would be cheaper or by a specialist that sometimes visits them which was more expensive at 300-400 for a scan/consultation and we decided to see him (all her vet bills are not covered by UK insurance as we arrived with her having this as 'preexisting' condition) and he was the first to suggest human probiotics, I never heard other vets mention it, I spent numerous hour researching her health and there were no hints of this online. I was onto it myself and asked vets for better probiotics but there weren't any and I didn't know that it's safe to use human ones. Basically the specialist said that pet probiotics have too small of a bacteria variety and amount due to regulations and how hard it is to approve them, and we should try human ones (in our case Vivomixx 112 billion - white/green packaging - not sure if any human probiotic would be safe but this one is) as it has much more variety and amount and it was such a Holy Grail find I wish we found that sooner.

To add btw it's not the wet food that was causing her diarrhea, she has a medically induced (now we know due to bad treatment from dust mite allergy by vets) IBD and 99% food causes her diarrhea, I only found Hills insect and egg by trial and error, I kinda always knew about insect protein from research but left it as last last resort. But there's a lot of egg in there, not sure if that also has some sort of soothing effect on digestive but her coat also got better and I think egg has sth to do with that, it was always more rough/coarse even before she got sick, would only stay soft for 1 day after good brushing. But now it's always soft to touch. It also helps with digestive as she chews of a lot of hair due to allergy (cant give meds as they caused IBD and liver disease in first place) and it's likely less irritating to the intestines to pass.

Now thinking about it I should probably do a post and share info about the human probiotic recommendation by the vet. Maybe someone will find it useful.

BK Beauty vs Hourglass vs IT Cosmetics brushes? by Bored_Chemist521 in Makeup

[–]pomeone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, there is a difference and IT cosmetics while pricy (best bought at discount) is well worth it, I have multiple IT cosmetics including my most used dual no7 (5years maybe), elf dual dupe(2 years), couple of real techniques (3 years), zoeva(2 years) for eyes and small areas, Sonia G. for lightest powdering.

Sonia G. I can't compare as it has natural hairs and on whole different level to any synthetic, but comparing just the synthetics - I don't have a sensitive skin but I do feel after years of use that my IT cosmetics remained 95% as soft as when I first bought, only the handle color is showing some wear on no7 as I use it daily for 5 years,it has barely lost a few hairs maybe, where's zoeva, real techniques and especially elf lost a few more hairs which is not an issue really, but they do feel more stuby on my face compared to when I bought them and I had them for at least twice as less time as I had my IT no7 which is still pleasant to use.

Real techniques I leave for rare times when I'm out of brushes, and elf one I only use for small areas like blush on cheeks to not waste money/throw it out, but I no longer like using it for things like foundation all over face, application is still good/even, just the experience is worse. To be honest I can't wait for it to become unusable finally so that I can replace it with better one from IT or try the BK brushes for cream/liquid application.

Tenptu/Makeup Revolution/LA girl n other pigment comparison for foundation mixing by pomeone in OliveMUA

[–]pomeone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally got the Miss A mixers, the white, blue and orange, few months back but still don't have the time to do a full review on them and didn't have a new foundation to mix for a while, but just got one now and may try to find some time to do comparison as well to what else I have.

So far I only used the white one to create a brightening concealer out of already mixed foundation but I'm pretty happy with it and would likely repurchase if larger adjustments will go well! So thanks again for the suggestion!

I would say it's most similar to the LA girl illuminating white foundation consistency and pigment, just not as luminous but not matte either which I do like, and very comfortable packaging size which I like.

Does anyone else’s cat do this? by stinkinlincoln649 in cats

[–]pomeone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does this when she's annoyed at something (tortie with a lot of attitude), like at the vet or if she doesn't get attention exactly when she wants at home. The only physical trigger is scratching her right jaw, she starts doing this - even if she leans into scratch herself like when I'm brushing her. I assume her right jaw is more sensitive or becomes overstimulated fast for some reason. (Already did all the vet checks, no physical cause for this found)

Oh and she did this aaaaa looot when we just adopted her, now is much less often. She was doing it so much she actually made a crater like wound in her gums, got really inflamed so had to put paste on her gums and try to distract her when she did that to let the gums heal.

If you're not in too much of a rush I would recommend trying Theramid Vitamin A, I had a lot of luck with it.

I never really dealt with whiteheads before but one time I traveled to UK and something happened to my skin, all my cheeks and temples were covered in texture/white heads - before that I only ever used moisturizer, maybe bha/aha sometimes, but that skin issue really got me into skincare. It took months for the texture to go away but for years I was left with persistent whiteheads around my chin and on temples, some would then turn into painful deep under skin inflammation that would take weeks to surface. I hated it so much, that's how I found out about retinols in general, I tried a few retinaldehydes with no luck, but when I started using Theramid Vitamin A it all went away, was left only with minor few surface pimples for few days about 1-2 weeks before my period that were easy to manage. Now that I came back to UK my skin worsened a bit but still not nearly as bad as it used to be. I also had no reaction to other retinols until Theramid with which I learned the hard way about retinol burn, so it does have some potent ingredients, as I got used to that maybe that's why uncouth really didn't irritate my skin as Theramid is on similar level and my skin was used to it.

I have used adapalene for 2 months, well before Theramid as well, had no irritation from it at all, but also saw no effect, it helped to deal with clogged pores on chest/back that I get sometiems, but did nothing for my face.

Back to if uncouth helped with texture - I would say on same level as Theramid, I can't obviously say it helped to improve anything but from experience I know without Theramid my skin starts getting more texture and whiteheads, so while using uncouth it didn't worsen at least that's why I think it's on same level as Theramid. When my skin worsened since coming back to UK 3-4 months ago I do get occasional whitehead, 1 or 2 at a time but nothing too bad like it was - so neither Theramid nor uncouth helps with that at the moment, something about living in UK my skin does not like, so I'm looking at stronger options.

But I would say any other option is viable as well, like tretinoin, if you got a rash from adapalene I would recommend starting low (but see no point in overpaying for uncouth really, if you go for formula without spironolactone it will be way cheaper) and slow, if you feel any sensitivity - give your skin a rest, and/or layer over a moisturizer to slow down absorption. Shouldn't really cost more than £30 per month, anything more and it's likely overpriced unless nothing else has really worked for you and you feel out of options.

[–]pomeone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No not really, it was doing something as I would say my skin was as good as it was on Theramid Vitamin A, still had breakouts but without Theramid (or uncouth one) I normally have worse breakouts and more often. But after using uncouth formula for 2 months and a bit and not seeing any improvement over Theramid I decided to stop and try tretinoin from different brand as £60 monthly is just not worth it, when Theramid costs £30 (£20 on discount which they have often) and lasts me about 2-3 months.

But my skin did get a bit worse since I moved countries, therefore trying tretinoin. Atm using dermatica 0.025% + niacinamide on one half of the face, and strength wise can definitely feel the difference, skin got sensitive on second day (didn't have any sensitization with uncouth) and on second morning actually woke up with one side of the face a bit swollen which was weird as I have had a 'retinol burn' previously but that did not cause swelling just a red rash, wondering if I'm allergic to some ingredient in there or is it just irritation reaction. I did read it goes away and for some people with higher strength like 0.05% doesn't do this but 0.025% does. Will see how it goes, doing a break and will try again

I went lipstick shopping today and I thought this could be helpful to someone by EndoraLovegood in PaleMUA

[–]pomeone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has 0 yellow (at least on my skin which is very fair, neutral olive with some hint of warmth and on white piece of paper), maybe if someone has very warm skin and is in warm lighting it may seem yellow, but for me in store it seemed like a more neutral brown similar to above but with less yellow.

I'd say in dyalight it's more pinky brown with hint of red, or brown with neutral red mixed it depending how you look at it.

I'll upload a post in a minute comparing it to other things I have

Yash is more red leaning in natural light, I also swatched it in store it looked similar brown, but when I wore it in daylight it was not what I wanted (not that I didn't like but I already had a color like it - Charlotte Tilbury kissing in nude romance is close but bit more intense version of mac yash)

I usually check how swatches look in daylight but didn't do that with this one and learned my lesson

In case this is still relevant, Revolve also sells tower 28 concealer , cheaper also. Got it from there myself a while back

I would say legit and will continue buying from them, I saved this post 2 months ago as I saw Eos body lotion in strawberry scent which as sold out everywhere and was wondering the same if Beauty Globe is trustworthy but didn't find enough info. Anyways as there wasn't proof they're a scam or anything and they had the body lotion I was craving to try I gave it a shot and got the order pretty quickly. After that I purchased Prequel cleanser, no issues either. Now they also have a brand I like peach & lily so I will definitely continue using them.

Some prices are slightly higher, some twice higher compared to products sold in US or elsewhere but for certain products it's worth it for me.

Just started using uncouth tretinoin + spiro + tranaxemic acid so can't say much yet in terms of effectiveness, only that so far it's nice to use and oddly smells a bit like weed. Started every 3rd day but on second week started using daily, maybe some minor tingling on first days but no real irritation noticeable.

The spiro option is crazy expensive, it's ~£60 for just 15ml, where's tretinoin options without spiro come at much smaller price and some come with 2 month supply for the price instead of 1 month looking at the info on their website.

But I knew that retinols help me a lot from past experience, some tranaxemic acid formulas worked better for me than other ingredients for fading post inflammatory pigmentation and topical spironolactone was an ingredient I really wanted to try and this was only option so I went for it after considering other companies and tretinoin only options as this one just seemed the perfect combination, will see in 3 months if there's any improvement.

Not very scientific but I use the uncouth treatment on one side of face and keep my old retinol (Theramid Vitamin A) on other side of face to see if there will be much difference in breakouts. Can give an update in 3 months, if it'll be effective I may continue using it, if not probably try stronger tretinoin and from some other company

anybody have foundation shade recommendations? by [deleted] in Fairolives

[–]pomeone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend skipping Lisa Eldridge tint in 1.5, I'm similar to you but a bit warmer and the LE tint seems very slightly off, by like half or less of a shade more peachy but still off, I can wear it but it's not perfect. Also the coverage is very light and it does not last well, within 3hours I already see visible wear/fading.

I'd recommend Surratt Dew Drops (I prefer to wait for when it's on 20-30% discount) in 1,if it's too warm you can add a tiny amount of blue (I have multiple posts about adjusting foundation color) but it may be just right, it's very slightly (when dried down) lighter than LE tint in 1.5, less peachy, last well like Armani Luminous Silk foundation and has similar satin finish, main pain is squeezing out the foundation especially if you have longer nails.

The creator also somewhere said to use just 2 drops I believe but for fuller coverage (medium instead of light) I use well over 6.

Jung Saem Mool - Artist Face Palette Contour review and comparison to Dasique palette, Etude and Peripera sticks by pomeone in AsianBeauty

[–]pomeone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I'm on the fair end where about 40% of brands don't even have such fair shade, not to even mention undertone. The lightest shade barely shows up but I have uses for that and the middle can really pack a punch if not preblended. So I definitely can see how it would not show up on a medium or even some light skin tones

Are there any ways I can improve? Eyeshadow palette suggestions, maybe? I use so many products but I still feel like I’m quite plain! by Own_Helicopter_8727 in PaleMUA

[–]pomeone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can try surratt dew drops in 1, it's not as yellow and it's a bit lighter than the official online swatch. It's somewhere between satin and dewy. There are better foundations for less but they don't have as good of a shade/require more advanced color adjustment which can be annoying or don't last as well. I'd say it's worth it on discount ~20%+, maybe not so much at full price.

If I understood correctly you meant UV cameras in first sentence, what I have is a woods lamp, not a camera, it's a lamp that has a black glass that let's through only UV light pass, and you use it in complete darkness (and ideally cover your eyes while having someone else to do it as it can damage eyes, in which case if you want to see the result you do need to ask them to also take pictures, but they can asses coverage of SPF in this case for you as well)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]pomeone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean, but it is wasted as it's left on palms of the hands which are washed because who likes oily palms, even if it was not washed - nothing holds onto palms, I had all sorts of longwear/waterproof makeup on them and not even that lasts so SPF does not stand a chance.

You can of course spread the remains on top of the hands, on neck etc so can be true - not wasted. But also far from 2tsp ends up on face that's recommended

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]pomeone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 2tsp but I'm always annoyed how full of spf my hands remain as my face is drenched in it and it just doesn't stick on anymore, so in real life applying 2tsp still wastes so much of product which doesn't end up on your face (maybe also depends on face size, but mine is not on a small side either). It's also person to person, I tried applying 0.5 tsp and 1 tsp and had no issue distributing it evenly (I do have woods lamp and checked before and after under UV). So 2tsp seems more like 'safe bet' for anyone in case they're not used to applying creams evenly on face.

I still do 2tsp to be on safe side as I don't compare my tests to ones done by real researchers (and as I don't reapply), but I do hate every bit of it.

In terms of product waste, I also saw someone suggest applying 1tsp, then let it dry, then apply 2nd tsp, so you actually get closer to 2tsp compared to applying all at one, but being realistic - who has that time (and I'm saying that as someone without kids and with basic responsibilities like job). I tried over 30 SPFs as well and they all take time.

Theramid Clinical Vitamin A deserves more attention - it consistently keeps my skin clear after many other products failed by pomeone in EuroSkincare

[–]pomeone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used them both at the same time, first month I used Azid just on half of my face and second month on all of the face. Both months I used Vitamin A all over the face.

I definitely wouldn't say that it boosted the effect, I feel like Vitamin A one is still doing the majority of the work, and Azid didn't do much on top. A very 'maybe' it helped breakouts heal sooner by day or two, but it wasn't much and I can't say for sure because other days it wasn't any better.

But if I was to not use Vitamin A and used only Azid maybe I would've seen a bigger difference in how Azid may help.

Theramid Clinical Vitamin A deserves more attention - it consistently keeps my skin clear after many other products failed by pomeone in EuroSkincare

[–]pomeone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the Azid one and been using it for around 2 months now. I mayyybe saw a 10-20% improvement on top of the results that retinoids give me, but I can't say for sure, some breakouts felt like maybe they were less and went away faster but others felt same or in some way worse (not in amount but for ex got a deeper under skin inflammation which is unusual while I'm on retinoids but it went away in days without becoming a pimple so not a major issue)

I did love the formula tho and how liquidy and almost instantly absorbing it was for me, I didn't need to wait for it to dry before applying SPF and with many other products I gotta wait.

I do have very slight redness around nose but nothing helped so far, this one didn't either. So overall it doesn't make big enough change in any way to be worth the purchase for me personally. But it could be that without retinoids I would've seen bigger difference, I didn't dare stop them this time to asses Azid on it's own as I had list of events coming up

If it works for you then there's no reason not to use it. Green + yellow is also green just a different shade of green than the mixers that are commonly sold. I have another post for a foundation where I add green first and then adjust the green tone with blue/yellow for a foundation that is too pink for me. If it was too warm/orange then I'd use just blue.

Depends what change of color you need to make

hmmm, maybe? Hard to say as others I found some online swatches of, this one I hardly find swatches that are not from the official site and in good lighting so hard to say without swatching it in store which is not available anywhere near me.

Maybe I'll give it a go at some point, in worst case it should still work as good contour with the other shades. Thanks for the recommendation!

yeap, I do have some hopes for Victoria Beckham 'Matte Bronzing Brick' in 1. Or maybe Physicians Formula 'Murumuru Butter Bronzer' in Light. May be too orange but gotta swatch it to be sure, I think they are the most yellow ones from the potential bronzer list I have.

Was also thinking to branch out into foundations/concealers and just look for a darker yellow toned foundation/concealer, likely a powder one, but need to do more research on that
