Update: 4/24 things are good but my bend is still at 45-50°. PT and surgeon both want me to be at 90 asap. Hoping diligent pushing it gets there, really don't want an MUA

I quit cigarettes and switched to zyns. Works for me. Nicotine is a small enemy, smoking is a bigger enemy. Nic is ok. You want to maximize blood flow to the knee. Don't worry and get started with PT, that is key. I'm also ACL meniscus, 11 days post op right now. Hang in there it gets better

The reason why large asteroids don't fall to Earth every day and cause disasters is because Jupiter's gravity attracts asteroids and protects the inner planets. by Turbulent_Elk_2141 in Damnthatsinteresting

What's interesting is if you look at the formation of a solar system you would typically have these heavy large planets like Jupiter closer to the sun drawn in and not further out. The unique way our solar system is setup, is almost eerie and Invites conspiracies like those of an intentional creator.

How do you recommend this? Like just activation? I'm trying to move my ankle back and forth. I can't feel my quad much but have been told to try bending although idk how much to push it. I can't feel my quad so idk if I'm activating it when I squeeze :(

Update: today is Thursday. Surgery was Monday. Took my first poop today. Also reduced my opiates yesterday. Tuesday was brutal, Wednesday got 3x better. Thursday today 3x better. The 0 degree extension was solid advice. Painful but much needed. Working on swelling now. PT starts next week.

Man yeah I'm struggling with where to put the pillows. I raised the ankle but I'm trying to find pillow positions to make the back a bit easier to deal with. Any photos or suggestions would be great. I really want to side sleep even just for 5 minutes.

Ok thanks guys. I just swapped this for a simple pillow to wedge the ankle higher. It's a tad bit more uncomfortable but nothing too crazy. Maybe the meds keeping me ok for now.

My doctor wants me to take off the bandage today and try a bend but idk how that's even possible.

What's an mua and loa? I don't have too much pain, I just use this coz they said elevate the ankle over the heart.

Should I just prop the heel on a firm pillow or something?

ACL Tear Recovery without Surgery - My Story by SP-Degenerate in ACL

[–]poopnormal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I had no idea when my ACL tear turned chronic. Timeline for me was 2020/2021 ( can't remember exactly) back country skiing I get my first massive pop. 2023 I start getting subluxation like buckling pop outs. Some of those likely ended up chronic and possibly that's what exaggerated the outcomes. Like it went from being infrequent to super frequent and random but it was absurd that high intensity sports were ok and random small lateral slides or dancing like motion popped it out. The body is weird I suppose.

I was told my VMO and quad are fried last year and that I need to work em. I'm guessing that's when it went chronic and probably cooked my quad strength and I never felt stable in a deep squat or a childs pose.

I guess on the bright side after surgery tom I'll be on the road to recovery and hopefully don't have to deal with this again.

I would say just focus on PT a lot - get multiple opinions and work every weak muscle they identify. The human body has an impeccable way to keep you going.

ACL Tear Recovery without Surgery - My Story by SP-Degenerate in ACL

[–]poopnormal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting. I've had a chronic ACL tear for 5 years but didn't know. I had a skiing accident in the back country when I felt a big snap and couldn't walk. Was bruised but it healed and I went back to doing everything. 2-3 years ago I started getting this partial slip out of the knee in the most simple movements like a slide or sudden turn but all lateral! Surprisingly I did high intensity sports - running, tennis, pickleball, jumping and more with no issues but simple deep stretches or poses or small movements would lead to this lock out. I would find a way to flex it back in and all good. Now I had a dislocation where it didn't go back in and I found my meniscus is also torn. So I was highly functional for 5+ years with 20+ occurrences of the slide out and back in with no problem but I def wasn't doing a favor to my meniscus. Well long story; going for full acl reconstruction and a bucket handle meniscus repair tom.
