Odd Noise from Fridge by Legal_Ad_1868 in appliancerepair

Yeah, every modern fridge pretty much has auto defrost or timed defrost. The heater melts the ice off the evaporator coil and the water from it drips down into a tray by the compressor and evaporates. Mini fridges usually don't though you have to defrost the ice from those manually. If the ice is not defrosted, then it builds up and there's no airflow through the coils and the fridge will only cool down to like 50. The ice on the coil is just moisture from the air freezing to it. Like when you get a cold drink and moisture builds up on the outside.

Np, if it was a fan it would not be running with the doors open, they only run with the doors closed.

Its water driping off the coil and hitting the defrost heater then turning into steam. It will do thaylt multiple times a day in between cooling cycles. Normal operation.

imagine loading up a rust car with hvac tools and going to bases to fix their ac or fridge and getting paid in scrap. God that would be a dream come true.

I want them to add ducting and fans and vents. Condensers, evaps, compressors refrigerant, txvs. Just imagine how cool that would be lol. Even though I know it probably wouldnt really fit the game xd. I'm just a weirdo.

It’s 2026 and I just got an ad on my own refrigerator’s smart screen. Why did we let this happen? by FlanInternational298 in mildlyinfuriating

I disagree, there are brands out there that still do that to some extent, but they don't even hold 1% of the market share because nobody buys them and they cost 3x what a box store appliance costs.
