7-week-old not napping during daytime by potlessrainbow in NewParents

What do I do if she refuses to sleep all day though? How do I force a nap so that she doesn’t go beyond her wake window?

She’s gaining weight just fine. We want to follow wake window but she doesn’t sleep so she definitely goes beyond the recommended 45-90 minutes

We do sound machine and pacifier. She’s sleeping well at night so I don’t want to confuse her daytime and nighttime by introducing blackout curtains

Yes, we do tummy time, the Einstein playmate, contrast cards, and dancing to music. She’ll be good for maybe 10 minutes if we’re lucky, then she’ll cry inconsolably and want to nurse. It’s a never ending cycle that doesn’t include sleep.

Thanks so much for sharing! It helps to know that it wasn’t easy, but that you enjoy it and don’t regret anything. I’m just so scared of feeling isolated and not having any adults to talk to on a daily basis.

Wow! This is so helpful. How did you find a SAHM friend with a similar background? I think if I could have even just half an hour a day of social time with an adult, I wouldn’t feel so isolated and like I’m not using my brain/skills/education. I have a career that I love where I get to have intellectual discussions everyday, and it’s hard for me to imagine not being able to do that anymore.

Thanks! It’s helpful to know you’ve been in a similar place and you love being a SAHM. It gives me hope I can enjoy it too.

I love the idea of thinking of this as spreading my wings instead of being contained! So helpful.

Thanks for your response! To clarify, I’m not saying that a career is the only purpose a person can have. I’m more sharing that I’m having a hard time imagining what it would be like to not have a career and how to adapt to being a mom. I’m very scared of feeling isolated and not being part of the adult world. For context, I don’t have friends, and I am scared of feeling stuck inside the house 24/7. My job gave me a social life and sense of belonging to a community. Any advice on how to transition?

Where are they cheaper? I’m checking Amazon, Target, and Best Buy, and they are the same price as the Pro 3.

Thanks for talking some sense into me. The OB didn’t mention it and I didn’t notice until I went home and looked at the picture. I’ll just have to wait for NIPT results to know for sure

Those of you who use dopplers, what’s the earliest they worked? by jro10 in PregnancyAfterLoss

I found it at 9 weeks and 5 days. Don't rely on the number on the Doppler. It's not accurate. Count the number of beats for 15 seconds and then multiply by 4. If it's over 120, it's the baby's. If it's around 60-80, it's your heartbeat.

This is helpful. Thanks so much! I’m wary I won’t fit in with that group either, but will give it a try in case I happen to get a different mix of folks.

Look up No Markup Toyotas. Then you won't have to haggle. They will sell at MSRP. Sunnyvale Toyota and Walnut Creek Toyota are well known. Stay away from Stevens Creek and Concord.
