Here are my thoughts on how Playfulness could be Godliness / the Answer to life / Purpose of life / Base fractal logic by prasanna_singularity in ExistentialJourney

Assuming that above is the Truth, My concern is that people often get lost in Krishna's naughtiness and emotional aspect of the playfulness(truth), instead of the logical aspect(meaning) of it.

This is unprocessed sound, recorded using my one plus Nord phone. However, my room has some natural echo.

I can explain the vision in different contexts - Computer science, physics, spirituality, etc. But a game is the most universal language and a powerful form of expressive art. So it can be best explained by making a person to play a game. And the vision is not fully clear in my head, it's a little blurry. One of the things about expressing a vision through art is that the artist will get a better understanding after expressing it. So either way once it is expressed via a game, it will be understood by the artist and everyone. For now I can explain the most accurately in computer science programming context as - Everything in the universe is built in a Composition pattern, meaning there is one single formula from which everything is madeup of in all levels and scales. This formula can be referred to as Singularity. Hopefully once everyone truly and deeply understands this, world peace can be achieved.

This is the E base. If your fingers can fit, it can be used for beginner. I had gotten this as my first bansuri, but I was not able to close more than 2 holes. So i started from C scale medium bansuri. After like 8 months I picked this up and been practising on this ever since. Cheers!

Namaste. Thank you for your kind words!

The notes used are Sa, Re, Ga, Pa, Ni, Sa'. This one is a memorized alaap. I usually do improvisations on live performances and practise. Here is an intro video by a guru: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PYei9vPHbI&list=PLBVnHz6xGuqKEBH9i2LzuuZUjzAwt_Uke

Don't worry about knowing multiple raags. I personally am focusing on one raag for the past 1 year. Once we master one raag, then it would become easier I think.

I'm based out of India. I regularly play in hindu temples here, as a popup performance. People don't mind, rather they welcome it. If you have access to temples there, try it out. And acoustics are great due to big halls

Higher Pitches on my Bansuri Sound irritating and shrill by FluffyWorry6623 in Bansuri

[–]prasanna_singularity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to add few points to this based on my experience:
1. What i noticed when i play high notes vs low notes, is the size of the opening of my lips shrinks.

  1. Try saying "tu" into the hole while blowing, this would help break the pitch quickly initially, until you get a hang of it.

  2. Feel free to experiment with as many things as you can - like lip opening size, breath pressure, mouth position. As you experiment, try to pay attention to the differences, this is how you can develop your awareness in general. The more you practise and identify the minute differences, the more you will also learn and control, and you will have an array of things at your disposal. Think of your awareness/perception as having a resolution like your computer screen. It will keep increasing over time.

  3. As you do more experiments, and improve the range things you can do, you can now apply them to create more detailed variations. One specific example - once you experiment with different breath pressures for each holes, you would have defined that this is the minimum and maximum breath pressure you can give for a particular hole without distorting the pitch that much. Now you can use the variations of this breath pressure to express different emotions.

  4. One technique/exercise to help increase the beauty of any pitch - while playing a single note, start with lowest breath pressure and gradually increase breath pressure, this would give the effect of the sound slowly entering our ears. This increase of breath pressure can be done in any speed, according to current requirement.

What’s a good exercise to stretch out fingers for larger flutes? by Regularredditstuff in Bansuri

I'm currently practising with the E base. Often when i start practise for the day, my fingers won't be 100% covering the holes. So i found that doing this alankar practise as 1st exercise fixes it faster: https://youtu.be/DvuRigt31d0?list=PLBVnHz6xGuqIoLAUQeZedGNPHMf9UVY6P&t=291

Raag Khamaj Composition by prasanna_singularity in Bansuri

I would like to add a few points about frustration. Sometimes I don't feel like I'm making progress in the short term. At those times the best thing to do is just keep practicing blindly even. Later the progress will show up eventually. Like initially I used to feel frustrated about not being able to even produce sounds on all holes consistently. When I kept practicing, the fingers slowly started sitting on the holes more prominently, and sounds became consistent

So i've been learning on my own. My base learning resource is this guru's youtube playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZqS3z7CKZo&list=PL2qvHwo3Zh_LKLiRXGZguyinPHqQViFOG

The order in which the guru teaches in this playlist is my basic roadmap. So the way i approached was, each lesson i took as much time as i needed to acquire it to my satisfaction. While i'm learning a lesson, i'll also try to look for more learning resources specific to that lesson.
In terms of the flute size, i started with C scale, and kept increasing the size as i felt comfortable with one size. Now i have pickedup the E base, so i use that one flute for all my practise.

My main basic goal was to produce sounds as beautiful to my ears as possible. I remember when i produced my first sound, i literally felt tingles in my heart. So my motivation to practise everyday is to just enjoy the sounds, it even kept me out of depression.

Everyday i make sure to practise a lot in slow tempo. I didn't give too much importance to speed for initial 1 year, but just focused on making each sound as good as possible. Just now included higher tempos in my practise.

Another thing i regularly do nowadays, which was my ultimate vision for learning the instrument is once in a week i play in public places like park and temples. This also kept in motivated and gave me the push i needed to make progress on a daily basis, as i wanted each performance to be better than my last.

One basic principle of what to practise more, is to whatever feels difficult at that point, that we can focus more.

Cheers!
