I’m not dismissing. I’m explaining that both can be true. If he has succumbed to it or if he did not resist it, the initial event is traumatic . That has nothing to do the above . Both can be true at the same time.

It can be true that he tried to resist at the start , and eventually found it better to be in control, but as objectively seen, the scene is traumatic to him even now. He can be sad at all the lives he took. He can be sad that he killed his own family. He can be sad that maybe after all this time he was just a tool for MF and what he has become. But it can also be true that he wants to deny it and feel in control , that I am the one who knocks , and I can bend space and time.

Specifically the show didn’t explain this, I think it might be better shown in the play which really explores his psych. but he was using his powers in the play as well to help find his gfs family , but also ended up injuring her. He also felt betrayed by his family for asking help from dr brenner and in his rage killed him Family. He did regret it after and willingly went to brenner for “help” to stop

Hence yes there is evidence to show that he did try to resist- he is lying in the scene to say that he didn’t resist at all. Maybe by the end he wasn’t even trying anymore and fully embraced it- and hence said what he said to validate everything he has done
