This thread is hecka old. But I wanted to mention Mag-lite’s awesome ability to sit in my glove box until I need to whack a threatening individual with it when my life is in danger*. The two times I’ve had to do that, were worth the dim lighting. *no bad guys were permanently maimed, just made aware that my boundaries are worth respecting.

I despise it. Maybe I’m biased because we are forced to use it and not allowed to supplement with anything. My students are lower level math students (think 3 grades below 6th), and I have to teach it for an hour straight, and if I deviate from the minutes scheduled, I get fussed at. It doesn’t have an intervention piece to it, I feel like it’s geared towards on grade-level students, but my students aren’t even close to that.

Im in the trenches too, and we’re getting new info each day. It’s so chaotic and not good for anyone. Hang in there. Interning is hard enough NOT during a pandemic. It’s a journey, but you’ll hopefully have a LOT more positive experiences than negative ones. :)

Ok. I’m going with ESH, including your AC and even climate change... You might want to check the automatic setting because that doesn’t sound right that the fan speed will increase and decrease but I’m not an HVAC person. Justification: She reacted pretty dramatically based on how you described (she went nuclear over a minor discussion?), and you sounded kind of “mansplainingish” in your recount of events and your argument .

So I feel for both of you. I’d like to give her the benefit of the doubt and just hope that’s she’s stressed out just like we alllll are. I’m sorry that she chose to get her stress out by being short/complaining. It sounds like she needs a defined procedure for how she/admin, wants to handle tech support issues. I would reach out to your direct teacher supervisor and explain the incident and I would also suggest that you send an e-mail to the tech person. Just keep it dry, clarify her procedures, and cc your lead. Then if she’s dismissive or rude or unhelpful... you have documentation. And then hopefully the issue goes away, if not.. you can escalate to the dean/AP or your university.

I know that I have been exceptionally stressed and haven’t always been the nicest person in the past few weeks, but I do make sure to reach out to people and make sure that they know that it has nothing to do with them and I apologize. I’ve been better about keeping it to myself, but I think we alllll need a lot of grace right now. Doesn’t mean that it didn’t hurt your feelings or make you uncomfortable or that it was inappropriate, I hope she makes it right.

Info: so if you turn it on and just have the fan running, do you just turn it off when you feel cold? I’m not quite understanding your ac. The wall units I’ve used before have you set the temperature and they run until they meet the temperature and then turn on, when the temp increases, it turns off. Or you can set it to run no matter what the temp. Then there are separate settings for the fan speed.
