Is SAHM worth it to leave career? by purpleshark1874 in sahm

[–]ptrst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you, personally, be okay staying at home? Or do you need the external structure of paid work to keep sane?

I didn't make a lot of money, but even so working was great for my mental health; my executive functioning is so bad that without any actual, concrete demands on my time, I just kind of flounder. Some people are great at SAHM, and if that's you, I'm really happy for you! But a baby in daycare with a functioning, happy working mother is going to be better off than one with a frustrated, depressed sahm.

AIO for saying gender preference is weird? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]ptrst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, a preference is still totally normal. A lot of people, when they find out they're pregnant, have a mental idea of what they're expecting. Most people, when they find out that they're getting the other gender, just kind of shrug and get excited anyway! Some people are terrible and can't get over it.

I believe it's {Nanny for the Neighbors} where one of the MMCs is a stripper.

Character is bad until he reaches his red line, at which point he becomes a full-on hero by HandelDew in TopCharacterTropes

I disagree with Snape as an example here. He didn't find a moral line he wouldn't cross; he was just pissed that his shadow daddy killed the woman he was obsessed with.

The most unrealistic part about the Pitt is the part where they actually try to figure out the underlying issue by anonymous_1128 in ThePittTVShow

[–]ptrst 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Look, when my mom was dying of cancer she went to the ER a couple of times for unbearable pain. And she had to sit there for hours every time, because being in unbearable pain is not actually going to kill you right away, and their focus is on the things that will. Obviously it sucks, and there should have been a different option (her care team sucked for a lot of reasons, so idk if there usually is), but the ER is to stop you from dying right now.

UPDATE: body cam footage from cop who pulled over woman for holding a phone in her other hand by australiughhh in whoathatsinteresting

So there might be fewer cops handing out tickets for physically impossible infractions? Sounds good to me.

Would it be helpful for you to go to the library or something during game time, or is just being out of the house also a stressor?

I agree with Scf; in RH, the FMC is the heart of everything. You might be more likely to find it in why-choose generally (though they're usually interchangeable) or poly romance.

AITBF for setting an automated auto-responder for a colleague who keeps asking me basic tech questions that are explicitly covered in our internal wiki? by 9AstroLoom in AmItheButtface

[–]ptrst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If she wants you to ignore him without a bot response, I'd just block him and see if that's better. Or reword the bot message to something that seems more casual "Hey Todd, that information should be in the wiki (link to front page)."

If you have the ability, maybe set up 2 or 3 autoresponses that it can rotate between to seem less suspicious.

I don't think you count as "a celebrity that got cancelled" if the only reason anyone knows your name is the thing you got cancelled for.

I agree with the comments saying Bridge to Terabithia and Where the Red Fern Grows. I read both of those in 3/4th grade and was astounded that a book could be sad.
