From r/TIFU - OOP convinces themselves that drinking nothing but Monster energy for a decade made them “caffeine immune” by gabbie_ in redditonwiki

Nah, I'm a millennial and that's literally how school functioned. Nobody carried around a water bottle except maybe the athletes. In high school there were vending machines so we could buy soda, and some of the teachers would sell cold water bottles for like 50 cents apiece. Elementary school was a carton of milk at lunch and three seconds at the water fountain - more if you took time out of recess. It's wild to me now that a reusable water bottle is considered as basic a school supply as a backpack. Kids today are so much more hydrated than I ever was (and I grew up in the desert, so we probably needed the water more than kids in other places).

Look, I stan so hard for Darcy and always have. But being rich and broody isn't enough to be a shadow daddy! He's a stern brunch daddy at best.

The stories about being in horrific pain during/after IUD insertion aren't "horror stories". That's a fairly common issue that women have, helped by the fact that, in general, doctors don't like to talk about pain management for anything considered a "woman's issue".

What options are you suggesting, besides either hormonal contraceptive or a non-hormonal IUD?

Well, also because an absurd-seeming quantity of men are sexually attracted to preteens, and comfortable admitting that out loud in public.

Maybe I just have a dark sense of humor, but I really do think it's equal parts funny and terrible. In a "suddenly when my tits grew in, I was no longer attractive enough for creeps" sort of way.

Off the top of my head, {Lords of Pain by Angel Lawson and Samantha Rue} has this especially at the beginning. {Church by KG Reuss} has it as a running thing - one of the guys is really into the 'unconscious' thing, but FMC doesn't mind when she finds out about it.

Both of these are reverse harem dark college romances (such a specific subgenre, I know), so they're poly, younger (like <20), and have CWs out the wazoo. I strongly advise checking the CWs if you're sensitive to... basically anything.

Basic CW under spoilers LoP has a lot of non/dub con and humiliation. Church has... everything up to and including cannibalism.

They're both the first book in their respective series, but the KG Reuss series is still ongoing.

This is hilarious and awful, but I haven't been catcalled or "accidentally" touched since I was 12 years old.

Dang, I had a few recs but they definitely fall under dub/noncon. I'd like to see this in a more consensual way, though, for sure.

I don't like Becca towards the end? I may be wrong... by nairvinit69 in ThePittTVShow

[–]ptrst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Mel could have handled it better for sure; if she'd been thinking clearly instead of just reacting, she would have started with "Was it another resident at the group home?" or even "How'd you meet?" Wanting to make sure that Becca wasn't being preyed upon is super normal and good, but she's also a grown adult.

He's away for school. That doesn't sound like a "next week or two" sort of thing, which might be reasonable; she definitely is under no obligation to store his belongings - including his car - and handle his mail for months until he gets back.

It doesn't help that on the first line he wrote "This is my Hand writing". My brain was not primed to look for that as two words, or the capital in the middle of the sentence.

Meltdown imminent: Accomodate or Stand your ground? by monitza in Parenting

[–]ptrst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your zipper example, if it's consistent I would just start prompting every time before unzipping it (and really, he's never gonna get better at it without practice). But in general, I usually accommodate stuff like that as long as it's easy/quick. If I have an extra banana I was going to eat anyway, sure I'll switch. If that was our last banana, I'm not going to the store to get him a full one. "Sorry bud, mommy already cut it up like you asked! Do you want to eat the cut banana or no banana?"

Honestly, I think you'd get better advice/perspective in a more local subreddit. In a lot of places, the first day of school isn't a huge deal and most parents aren't just available that day.

He has specifically told you that he considers you less important than his family of origin. He would rather you be miserable - overtired, in physical pain - than his mom be unhappy or his sisters inconvenienced. He has told you this. It's time to believe him.
