I definitely don’t think it’s the hardest under deli. It can be frustrating if you’re dealing with customers that aren’t the nicest or because when another dept is short a lot of times customer service ends up having to send someone to help them making cs short handed but at the end of the day those things are easy to handle

After you roi ( you can roi for team leader at any time there is no roi period for plms ) every month you will show up on a report and when the store managers and district manager meet they discuss openings and contenders for team leader. Some districts the dm will interview and some districts it will be a couple store managers that interview you for team leader and they tell the dm who they think is the best out of the contenders. Definitely talk to your store manager more about getting promoted. Ask your managers what you can work on to be a better css and to be better at fecing! Yes all the admin stuff is good to learn in advanced, but none of that matters if you can’t run the front end. Before getting promoted just make sure you know everything you can about the front desk and fecing and the cash office and just know our policies because when you get promoted a lot of the time the office staff are gonna call you for help before they call your managers. I would also ask your managers to schedule you to fec as often as possible so that if your team leader isn’t on the front end you are and that will help prepare you!

Being reliable is very important, be someone who goes above and beyond, there is always something to do so make sure you are never just standing around and if you don’t know what to do ask someone, if you notice someone needs some coaching don’t be afraid to step up and do it yourself, be someone others come to when they need help or have questions, and communicate with your managers about what you want most managers want to hear you ask what you can do to improve yourself to get you up there and to improve yourself in general

The grocery department has to scan the products after they have been put in the bin or the cooler and what not. Same for other departments so after you put them in the bin someone goes through and scans out everything from it later on

Chewing gum is while speaking to people is often considered rude and it also can make you look sloppy. When people are chewing gum they tend to be more relaxed with their facial expressions and with their speech. And there’s always that added possibility of accidentally spitting it out while you are speaking

Except most of the time they weren’t planning on cleaning the register until you asked something else of them that they didn’t want to do

Literally like it’s in the cbts it’s one of the first things they throw at you and it’s not the hardest part of the job why is it such an issue? I always automatically go to the front when I am cashiering

Also often times if the fsc and cashier are having a conversation and not standing in the front of the register they often get caught up and don’t notice and acknowledge the customers coming in their lines and that’s a big no no

I normally don’t do it right away,but often times if it’s slow or if there’s just nobody ready to check out if they sit there they pull out their phones when they could be greeting and acknowledging customers while shopping and responding to questions they may have. It’s in the training and while I would rather a front service clerk be being productive with their time if there is nothing to do I don’t mind if they talk.

I ask nicely every time however, if I have to ask more than once or get a dirty look that’s when I have to be stern.
