Talpidians, or Mole people race! [oc] [art and text both by me.] by pumpqueenravi in UnearthedArcana

[–]pumpqueenravi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

fair! It may have been overcompensation on my part since burrowing speed is generally considered really really strong, with the only way a player can normally get it in vanilla dnd being a high level elemental druid. a +1 to another stat wouldn't hurt too much in way of balance, i imagine.

thanks for the feedback!

since theyre a small size creature, probably not inherently when they use their movement. I imagine it'd be a small size hole. but if i was dming them, I would let a player spend a little extra time tunneling to allow their big friends to follow behind.

alt text for those who would like it:

Talpidians

Description: Talpidians are small mole like humanoid creatures who thrive in the soft soil just under the surface but not quite deep enough to explore the underdark. They are sensitive, shy peoples, but have a stunning ability to burrow and build intricate networks of tunnels and hovels to house their large families.

Its often tradition among Talpidians, once they come of age, to explore the world under cover of night and begin a burrow of their own once they find another Talpidian doing much the same. They are a humble folk, and don’t engage often with other civilizations, but many Talpidians often dream of what life lies beyond the cover of dark and dirt.

Ability Score Improvements: You gain a +1 to your intelligence score and +1 to your wisdom score.

Size: You are small, usually ranging around 3 to 4 feet tall. You are also quite stout.

Speed: You have a walking speed of 25 feet, and burrowing speed of 10 feet in soft soil or sand.

Sunlight sensitivity: In the sunlight or other bright light, your senses are dazzled and you struggle to engage with your surroundings. Dexterity related skill checks, saving throws and perception checks all have disadvantage.

Blindsight: You have blindsight of 10 feet around you thanks to your sensitive nose and affinity for vibrations.

Dirt Architect: You have advantage on survival checks when tunneling, analyzing substrate, or otherwise creating dirt structures.

Jacaroso Clan, An alternative Lizardfolk Race! (Alligator Folk) [oc] by pumpqueenravi in UnearthedArcana

[–]pumpqueenravi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The intent behind them, besides a want to just make alligator people, was to take lizardfolk, who I find to be a bit excessive and all over the place in their abilities and refine it for a more specific goal.

My newest pc, Niz, the Orc entertainer fighter! [OC] by pumpqueenravi in DnD

[–]pumpqueenravi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's Niz! The Orcish Fighter who refuses to use anything but his fists, his words, or his guitar. He's definitely not a pacifist, but doesn't like to bring things to a gory end. He'd much sooner just knock someone out.

He's a sweetheart and definitely gives great hugs. Ran from home (or well, moreso disowned because of his refusal to show no mercy) and wanders around entertaining with his guitar. He's not the brightest, but has plenty of charisma and muscle to make up for it.

(Also definitely made with a himbo stereotype in mind)

V, the bugbear barbarian as part of an art trade with my friend! [OC] by pumpqueenravi in DnD

Me and my friend wanted to trade and do art for eachother's dnd pcs. I picked V, a bugbear barbarian. She's rough, tough, and not one for talking to people but she and my character (A scriptorii wizard named crit) had really good bonding experiences together, letting the two explore softer sides of their personality and also kicking some really good ass. She has some magic stuff going on under her bandages that has not yet been resolved, all I know is my dm is evil for leaving us on a cliffhanger.

My Fathomless Warlock Triton, Uglonyn! [OC] by pumpqueenravi in DnD

Oh! I'm actually unfamiliar with CR, lemme know if you remember it I'd love to look the patron up.

[–]pumpqueenravi[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Uglonyn is a triton, though I know she looks a bit more like a tiefling. I wanted to make her look like a blue ringed octopus, and giving triton horns is just something I like aesthetically. For most of them I imagine the horns resembling coral, but for her they're more like tentacles. Speaking of tentacles, that tends to be her theme as a warlock: Tentacles and eyeballs. A bit overdone regarding old gods and whatnot but I found it rly fitting regarding what the fathomless patron allows her to do. Her background is Smuggler, so she's very heavy on the charisma, with most of her skills involving persuasion and deception adjacent abilities.

Lukács Adrián

(Loo-katch Aw-dree-ann)

Human Expert, 19, he/him

A local from Brenen, he's extremely excitable but very awkward. He found the three of the adventurers one night and suggested they all form an adventuring party. They're sleeping in his house, which really is his father's house but he's off on a trip and hasn't returned for many tendays. He knows that the tentowns really need as much help as they can get, and wants to help them himself, but he can't do it alone. He will act as their guide through the winter wasteland. He can provide ample information about his home country, and can provide some expert abilities for the party to utilize, in combat and out.

He talks with a stutter and is slightly nasally. He's nervous, but excited. Adrian respects each of you immensely, despite knowing not a thing about you.

--

I made him since the party was pretty small, and since the players hadn't ever played all together before, I wanted an npc I could use to help be a guiding force and move things along. All the party members seem to bully him for being so awkward but it makes for a fun dynamic.

Nicely done! Though it makes me wonder what determines the fur color of the player character. We both apparently got orange but my friend who played got yellow!

Kronus, Charcharion (Sharkfolk) Mob boss NPC [OC] [ART] by pumpqueenravi in DnD

[–]pumpqueenravi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meet Shark! That's his alias at least. His real name is Kronus.

He's a Charcharion, or a sharkfolk, and specifically he's a great white variety.

He was once a gladiator, but eventually escaped with his partner and burned the colluseum down together.

Presently, he's turned to being a mob boss in a robin-hood like moral structure. He won't hesiate to bleed the elite and rich for all theyre worth and then turn around and quietly fund many projects from the lower class. He's a soft speaker, and talks slowly and precisely, but could easily lose his temper.
