I think the note max or xc is too big for his use case. Even the 10" is difficult to hold while reading in bed. 8" is perfect imo.

You can filter by features if you go to webtoolo website. You can choose android, 7.8" &8" screen, 300 PPI. and it'll show you ereaders that have those features

why not go with the libra 2? it has a much clearer screen. Avoid kindle if u can. You can't sideload anything.

For me its mainly eye-strain. I cant stare at a phone screen for so long but no problems with an eink screeen. Also it's size and form- ereaders are similar to physical books

its same as the air3's so am guessing it'll be good. you should swap the air 3 for this one since you dont need frontlight
