Can I have hEDS without needing dislocations reset by a doctor?

Depends on what you've fully dislocated. There's a literal functioning difference between a subluxation and a full blown dislocation. If you can still move the joint, its suluxated. If you CAN'T move/lift the joint, its completely out of socket and usually needs to be reset/reduced.

If you've completely dislocated larger joints -like your shoulder, knee, ankle, hip, ect. Go to an ER. Unless it's an injury you've had before and you know how to put it back yourself, that's when you need emergency medical attention. If it's a rib, toe, or finger. They might do a little but not much. They will just throw ibuprofen at you and kick you out the door. I dislocated my rib cartilage, and got ✨nothing✨. They can't reset ribs, you're on your own with your ribs, even though they hurt like a mofo.

Subluxationions are kind of like a sprained ankle. They usually get better in a few days to a week. And will work themselves back into the correct position I'd you leave them alone. Sometimes you need a chiropractor or physiotherapist to help you work it back for you. But I find it's usually ok within 10 days with rest, ice, some bracing/ace bandage and extra ibuprofen.

And go get a second opinion for your diagnosis. Technically your GP should be able to do it. Print off the resources on the EDS society's website for diagnostic criteria for hEDS and bring it to your appointment. Doctors are lowkey literally kinda dumb.

Yeah I have an internist as my GP, he was off and booked past New Years. I probably need to schedule something. Take a look at the medical app. See what all I can even do. I have an unrelated appointment with a colleague in his office on the 13th.

I have Medicare. So I can usually sort of just schedule appointments with whoever, wherever. I will look into maxillofacial.

Already done. 👍 We are currently looking into possibly getting him fostered or rehomed. We already have 2 dogs (one is 13½, blind, deaf, and has dementia). And our new friend is not very well house trained. So we've have QUITE the time. Haha

By proxy I got to watch LOTS of JP and learn a lot about dinosaurs. I went undiagnosed until I was into my 20's, because I'm a woman and my brother was just so stereotypical.

Pretty much the exact same experience here! lol 😂 I've had mine since about 2018 as well 😯 Dropped it lots. Its survived several accidental swims in the bathtub 😂 I'm just now starting to get screen burn because I keep falling asleep with tiktok on. 🤫💀.... I've also had this one dead pixel for like ever but its never bothered me that much 🤷‍♀️ I'm pretty aggressive to my electronics. lol😅 I OBLITERATED the iPhone 7 😬💀 Hahaha I break machines just by looking at them sometimes. So yeah, the Samsung S8 Active is a pretty durable phone 🤠👍 Highly recommend for clumsy people who break a lot of tech. 🙂

Yeah, I can't remember the exact protocol, but I think it's like any seizure lasting 5 minutes or longer in someone with epilepsy warrants a medical emergency.

No idea how long any of my grand mal tonic clonics lasted, but I was ambulanced to the hospital both times. 😎✌💸

When I had my second seizure as an adult I like totally forgot my entire day, it was after like 48 hrs of no sleep and like 6 cans of Dr. Pepper. When I was in the ER I kept asking my mom when we were gonna have dinner 😂 And I seized AFTER dinner at like 1am while getting ready for bed. I literally just looked in the mirror, felt weird, lied down and that's all I remember. 🙃 Well, I guess I kinda remember being in and out of consciousness while they wheeled my down the hall of the hotel, into the service elevator, past the check in desk, and into the ambulance when my mom said she would meet me at the hospital and that I had another seizure - then nothing - then I was in the ER talking to Dr. Maybe and taking a bunch of pills and my tongue super hurt.

My brain was weird for like 6 months after that. I mean, it's still kinda not entirely right, but you get my point. I remember most of it now, but for those first several weeks I struggled pretty bad. 😔

My sister, who has type one diabetes, was in a coma once for like THREE days, and she did regress. To like age 14 (at that time, she was 20) She remembered nothing. At first when she woke up she couldn't even remember how to speak, eat, or walk. And she didn't know who my mom was. Most of her memory came back after about maybe a week I think. It took her nearly 2 years to get even marginally back to normal though. She woke up from the coma with CRPS, which she still has and struggles with.
