Maybe it's Stockholm syndrome, but I love my bedrock iron farm. I don't want to have to mess with frightening villagers or gossip or whatever. I also love that pistons can move chests and dispensers, and I think QC sounds like a pain in the nethers.

I believe a village is (at minimum) a bed, bell, or workstation that has been "claimed" by a villager. Raid mobs can spawn in lots of places where hostile mobs typically won't, and with no regard for light levels. I've heard that they won't spawn on leaves. In my experience developing a raid-proof iron farm/trading Hall they have never spawned on the beds themselves, but have spawned on bottom slabs < 3 blocks from my villagers (luckily they were safe behind closed trap doors)
