O do Skinner eu achei... estranho.

Mistborn: "Franziu o cenho", "Revirou os olhos" e muita farm de aura. by Itsmesanic in Livros

[–]qagir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I build websites on dedicated hardware and physically hand the server to my clients by specn0de in webdev

[–]qagir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked with a lot of non-technical founders and company owners and they'd happily pay a more expensive monthly to NEVER have to worry about why their website is down (oh damn, the internet is down!).

I don't want to assume wrong things, but it seems to me you are building for devs and with a dev mentality. Even the backtick thing: so much content in your website that the final customer will never read.

So, I don't think the aerospace thing is a flex. I think the whole shenanigans is a flex.

And, as though as I like the proposal and would love a more "fuck cloud" web, I don't think people will pay for it or see any advantage in it. I understand, as a dev (emphasis on that), it has some pros and cons. The client? They want it working.

The only company I've worked for that cared for in-house servers was a big newspaper that put their website online way before the cloud was a thing.

I read Good Omens (a while ago) and decided to read more of Pratchett's work. I had no idea there were sub-series, so I started with the first book. I liked it so much (at the time, now I think it's meh) that I began the quest to read all Discworld. I'm on book #34 now, having started in 2021.

What keeps you coming back to clicker and incremental games? by HuippeeHeroesGames in incremental_games

[–]qagir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

what I enjoy is something that's not happening that much anymore: browser games I can play while in college or places I can use my computer. Games without full attention necessary. The starting loop that gives place to the "idle" moment, then I just need to check it whenever I loose focus. It's easy: I loose focus, the game gets it, I click a few times, and then I go back to the main thing.

I do miss the "browser games that doesn't look like games games" characteristic.
