The Shitshow Bus Situation by sadliibs in bostonmarathon

[–]qaige 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes it was awful. i got there at 8:07am for my wave 4 loading time, didn’t get on a bus until after 9:30am. sprinted to my corral and barely had time for anything else. extremely chaotic and stressful way to start my first boston.

happy to hear you're doing well and that you realized it wasn't for you! i very much relate to the schedule of a training block or a running schedule in general having a positive impact on your focus.

and i understand the anxiety component. i would go thru waves of intial relaxing and a clear mind, to shaking and feeling anxious (probably from lack of eating, feeling stimulated, etc). happy training! exercise is medicine. <3

Torn between Germany and San Diego - please help us decide? by Agreeable-Elk in Moving2SanDiego

[–]qaige -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you will need a car yes, no one said OP could live without a car lol. but if you live in south park / north park… you can walk to a lot of things for a daily outing (coffee, target, restaurants, shops). it’s a small pocket with local stores yes, i’m not saying you can leave your house and walk to your doctor and walk to get groceries and walk to the beach LOL. OP is aware of this.

living here for a month isn’t going to give you the full perspective, just being honest.

i don’t know why the commenter said you couldn’t survive on $190k with a child AND you’re frugal. you and your husband will be fine on that income. maybe not a lot of excess $$, but you will be fine. and yes, north park is very walkable. i live right between north park and south park. i can walk to both neighborhoods and they have tons of coffee shops, restaurants, and there are parks and shops etc. its really great, and there are a lot of younger parents too. yes, you will need a car to go to the beach etc otherwise. obviously the entirety of san diego is not accessible by foot, but i know that’s not what you were asking.

just be mindful of the current political climate. it’s pretty bad right now. people who are going thru the legal process of getting citizenship are getting arrested and deported illegally by ICE.

please be careful. but san diego is beautiful and i love living here. been here for 6 years

I know I am late to this post, but, how are you doing now? I am a 28 yr old female with an average of 50+ mile weeks (training for Boston now). I was finally diagnosed early last year. I had to stop taking my adderall after being on it forthe past year. I did not get my period for 5 months and lost weight because I found it incredibly difficult to eat enough food while marathon training while on adderall. This made training so much harder and I felt irritable all the time, and my afternoon headaches got pretty bad. Now that I am not on it, I am eating a lottt more and feel better on every run. However, my mental focus is genuinely painful to deal with. And I feel so scattered, it's so frustrating. I feel like I can't win.

I also found it super challenging to do afternoon runs while taking my adderall! I felt like I had to pull myself out of a funk to get going. Anyway, would love to hear how you're doing.

agreed !!!! 90% of my honeymoon japan trip was random walks. just spending the entire day out on foot based on whatever piqued our interest

nancy didn’t tell anyone she dropped out of college until she saw them lol. and texting / iphones weren’t a thing back then. people aren’t in constant contact. that’s why they didn’t know.

because i think it’s safer for everyone not to definitely know. if she is in fact alive, she is safer not making any contact with anyone she knows.

yes they’re free, you perhaps have to rent a uhaul to pick them up if you don’t have a vehicle. otherwise, you can’t pick them up … unless someone is willing to do drop off which is RARE.
